Yo buddy, just started myself around march this year. So ive already pulled 5 plants that were under a 250hps and were in a tent kind of like yours. I got a yield that was about a little over 21 grams. I suggest using this to veg and grab a 400 watt HPS for another tent. Youd be way more stoked off it.

Here's a link to a few pictures of the first pull plus my first build. i got to update the pictures for this next round, the plants are going richter this round!!
This is just the start to something good, so don't get discouraged. Its a learning process, but a pretty damn rad experience growing your own herb and smoking it.

Nice start. I would take that $10 Walmart light back. Old style magnetic ballast. They suck. Go to Homedepot and spend $20 on a T-8 with electronic ballasts. Actually get 3, that is what you are going to need for a tent that size. Even with the sidelighting. Good Luck!

I dont think im going to be using h.i.d lights for the fact that Im trying to keep it safe and i dont want the electric bill going up.

Homedepot or Walmart. It has a magnectic ballast that will not perform even close to the electronic for 10 bucks more.

with the lights i have now. i will be able to start the germination and seedlings stage for sure rite? this 1st grow is going to have 4 small plants which one i plan on keeping as my mother and letting it grow 4 feet. the 2nd grow will be moved to a different location and will have as many clones as possible that i can get from my mother plant thats when i plan to upgrade the light to hps for flowering.

Oh ya, plenty to get started. As far as the light goes. The electronic ballasts are much more efficient at firing the tubes. You just get better output all the way around. Plus the range of bulb choices, T-8, is almost endless. I wouldnt go much over 18 inches when just using fluorescents.

so if i wanted to veg 2 or 3 feet tall in this tent without h.i.d... would 3 of the shoplights and the side lighting work?

You could veg them taht big, yes. You are much better off keeping them short with fluorescents. Even with HID, a 4 foot plant takes alot of light to grow to its full potential. And if you veg a plant under fluoros that big and then switch to HID. You probaly going to end with a plant closer to 6 feet.

Well id have to say that by using around 265 watts of CFL's lumen's would supply less yield than a 250watt HPS and the CFL's would cost you more. Cost's me under $15 a month to run my 250watt.
