Lets get dirty ;)

so RIU im about to begin my second crop ever as of 2maro but am still tossing around a couple of ideas and id like to get the input of some members here are some details:

indoor grow 4 1000w
going for 20 clones
soil!!!!!!--------------------Heres where i need help
Botanicare lineup (pro veg/pro bloom/superthrive/and liquid karma)

But i cant decide on what dirt to go with, my local hydro offers happy frog and Foxfarm Ocean forest, now i have heard that ocean forest can be too strong for some plants and burn them, and i certainly dont want that, so what would be the damage in lightening up the ocean forest with happy frog say 1:1 ratio? or is there a better soil you would suggest?

Id also like some feedback on preventative measures like things you may add to the soil to prevent ph lock and whatnot! any and all advise is appreciated

Some people just like the convenience for the 1st month or so :)

What Fresno says, Dolomite for soil, look up a good mix, Jorge Cervantes has a good section on stuff like that in one of his grow DVD's... Once you get the soils PH correct, you shouldn't ever have problems with watering/feeding/lockout etc, because the soil acts as a buffer to whatever your putting in, I have never PH'd my tap water or nutes for my past 4 grows and have never had a problem, just water, heavy water, feed... rinse and repeat whenever they get thirsty XD

Outdoor grower here... Like FF...
I dont check my soils PH.. I know what my water PH is and... I dont like to be that fussy anymore
I use reused composted soil from the year before and dont use anything till the plants are stable enough to get benefits from it

I have ph tested my water once and that was enough, this is because I understand that MY nutrients drop my ph by about 1.2 because some guy did a experiment on it on another forum. Other than that, no I don't check anything.....my advice to this guy would be just go with your better judgement and don't get caught up in the "ph problem's" hype, although it does happen.....but that goes hand-in-hand with better judgement......and buy some soil without time release nute's in it, save that for the house plants. it would suck to have to flush out the water soluble nute's and then make the nute burn worse with the time release in the soil.
