I have been seeing the led grow lights on amazon do they really work ? What is the best brand ? Are they worthy? Safe?
There's lots of led fixtures on amazon, ranging from el cheapo garbage to primo high-end.
The most important thing is the diodes. Samsung LM301's are the gold standard. Not to say other diodes out there aren't good, but you'd need to do some research. The Samsung's LM301's are a "safe bet" and one of the best. Good drivers are also important. The MeanWell brand is kinda the gold standard of drivers, akin to Samsung LED's.
Avoid "blurples." They're easy to identify because the light they give off is very purple-ish. Often they have an enclosure with fans so they're pretty easily identified (good LED fixtures usually don't have fans, and the board or bar they are on acts a heat sink).
Pay attention to actual wattage at the wall. A lot of the cheap chinese manufactures, especially of blurples, advertise 1000W or something like that, when really the power draw is far, far less. The only meaningful power measurement is at the wall, so you need to check the product details closely to find the actual wattage. However if you're buying from one of the reputable, well-known manufactures, this isn't an issue. More so this about avoiding the cheap crap.
Brands on Amazon I would recommend:
- HLG
- SpiderFarmer
- ViparSpectra
- MarsHydo
There are certainly others, but start off looking at those brands to point you in the right direction.
