Hi all, usually grow with a single Mars ts1000.. I have found a 125w cfl (6400k blue spectrum) in the loft and was wondering can I run this alongside the Mars ts1000 for an auto flower? I only wondered as the cfl is used for veg.

Hey Guys... So... I also went with 250w CFL, and have added the mars hydro ts 600 to the mix. It's a cupboard grow.....
So initially, I was just using the cfl, about 15cm above the auto seedlings... It was very hot in there because of bad ventilation. Like 34-37 degrees C, was having to open the doors like 5 times a day to make sure the seedlings were not baked to match sticks.
The mars hydro arrived, with some vents I ordered. It f#ckin worked! I put the vents in, and reinstalled the pcs fans with them, and then the loud ass exhaust fan I bought, I set up directly with the filter then ran pipe to the vent. Temps are staying perfect and humidity is awesome!
So the lights are now equal height, 72cm above the seedlings, the space is 2x3 feet.
Whether or not the CFL will be productive at that height, well I don't know. It's really a tiny space... And at 2 weeks old the autos are looking good... So let's see how it goes...

yes, the more light the better, but as pulpoinspace mentioned, you may have problems with shadow. is rthere a way you can use a couple of sky hooks to maybe tie and raise the light to an angle useing some wire hooks on string? then the plant will need to be turned each day to even the light out and or maybe you can then lower the cfl down to a decent level

You would be adding 125 watts of very inefficient heat. I'd skip it. If you feel you need extra light, get some 100 watt equivalent A19s and pop the diffusers off of them. Or get a second cheap LED.
