Has anybody had a very successful yield with the new led tech? And what about compared to hid lights? Is it more for supplemental purposes??
That is true, but they have the potential to be cheaper in the long run. With LEDs you don't need big powerful fans sucking air through venting to keep them and their grow room cool because they run A LOT cooler watt for watt than HID lights. You also don't need a ballast (LEDs have drivers), possibly a fan to keep the ballast cool, you don't have to replace the bulb every few grows. If its a good LED light you don't even need as many watts to grow with as you would an HID (although the difference isn't extreme, you won't get 400w HID yields from a 200W LED, but you might get 400w HID yields from a good 300-400W LED).hope your rich thinking about an LED, shit aint cheap.
Look at how great Irishboys grows are and using the same lights he does you could have gotten 395-480w of grow power (you could have gotten two 240w Spectras for a little less money and you would have a larger growing space than you would with only 1 light). And if someone tells you need to run an HID with your LED they are full of crap (unless its a crappy LED). There isn't anything wrong with combining the 2 for extra power, but I think part of the point in getting LED is to completely replace HID (or to at least use LED on its own)I just bought the enhanced spectrum supernova led light...it was pretty pricey..ended up pAying 1200 for it...superbright shit...and runs only 270 watts and I feel no heat...jst hope my investment was worth it! A guy I talked to said that it's best to use it alongside with a 1000 watt light or a couple of them..that's probably wat I'll do!
You don't get to pick out the lights on your Spectra you just pick the model. If your growing space is 4ft x 4ft or bigger go with multiple 240s instead of 395s. If your space is smaller than 4ft x 4ft then I'd go with a single 395w (which is what I'm doing for my 2.5ft x 2.5ft space). Mike has them made so its easy to replace a dead LED but I don't know how easy it is to buy the spare parts and do it yourself, I don't believe he sells those out. I don't know about the smallest Spectra but the bigger ones have 6 fans I believe and they all have finned heat sinks. They have 12 wavelengths and are as good or better than a MH for veg and an HPS for flower (of equal wattage)That's a good thing I They invented refunds cuz that's what il do...thos spectrus look high quality too...I would ask u the same thing..the 395 should do but two 240s would b givin u 480watts total output...so the 2 240s sound much better...any word on the price to these..so returning my led would b my best bet ryt? I'd rather have two 240s or one 395 like u said! So the spectrum would probably have to be set by te buyer ryt? Are these the lights u buy separate components for? Like led bulbs, heat sinks, fans an all that? If that's the case I'll buy top quality components cuz u do end up getting what u pay for...I'll be doing my fair part of research on these lights...I'm still beginner to the led world...n dnt really know the mixture of different colors and what are best...
I know that blue for veg and red for flower but a do understand a little bit of variety is better as long as the red and blue are the majority! And the ratio for blue to red I dnt know..isn't it 5 to 1(red to blue) As far as watts go for each bulb what you think is the best to go with from what you heard?
