I know that Leds are not really strong enough for flowering but will the sunshine systems http://shop.sunshine-systems.com/product.sc?productId=10 work for my veg chamber???

I want to veg 8 plants at a time until they are about 2-3 feet tall is this strong enough to support them or will i need two???

I know there are a lot of LED haters but I am trying to save energy here, I already am using a 1000 watt hps for flowering I just want to know if I will be able to use the LED for veg and if they are strong enough to support 8 vegging plants and prevent stretching
I will need to buy a tent for my veg chamber can someone point me in the right direction for my my veg tent also?

would buying 2 of the led panels be better for 8 veg? Or is there another website that sells good led panels

any of you led guys, if you could help me out it would greatly help. I do not have a whole lot of spare time to do a ton of research on LEDS even thought I have read a fair amount I am sure I need to know more if you guys could share your knowledge and know how that would be awesome. What I need to know is do I have the right idea and should I buy either one of these panels?

Hi...There are a few threads on LED's on this site...the search function is working for me now,,hopefully it will work for you too...there are a load of haters out there but its informative reading some of those threads...
I am using LED's for vegging...and find they are really good,,but for 8 plants you would need to spend some money and get a few panels to do the job well....a good interim set up would be a combo of LED's and cfl's in your veg space....still saving on power and heat :weed:

From what I have read, those pannels are shitty. Everyone that I have seen uses like 4-5 pannels, plus a few LED spot lights, or CFLs to veg a few plants. Save your money and get a UFO. You can get one off ebay for like $300. I use it right now, and I'm very pleased with it. The technology isn't quite there yet for flowering, but I've had great success with the UFO in veg. Almost no heat, less noise, no exhaust fans, less electricity use. All up side.

I know that Leds are not really strong enough for flowering but will the sunshine systems LED Grow Lights from Sunshine Systems - led grow light : The GlowPanel 45 LED Grow Light work for my veg chamber???

they tell you that the light will cover 5 sqft. Is that enough area for (8) 2-3ft tall plants using whatever system you are using. Keep in mind the plants will at least double and maybe triple in height after you have induced flowering. I would say you would need 2. I like the results I get with the led I have, the Procyon100. It was about 4 times the price also, 10 sq ft of coverage so not as good as the output they are advertising for this one.

They are strong enough to support 8 vegging plants, not to the height your are talking about. The led's are mixed red and blue spectrum, usually a 3-1 ratio, they don't stretch the plants, in this case that would be part of the problem. By the time you put them into flowering at 2-3 feet of height.......

Any on line catalog? I would just make one out of pvc and panda plastic, with the led lights you won't have the same heat issues to deal with just a 'fresh air' system and an oscillating fan, and sice you are only planning on using it for veg you won't need odor contol in it. I think one of the F boys (FDDtoblk:blsmoke: or FIlthy Fletch) posted one they made. VV

I wish I had a Procyon. I also wish I had the money to afford a Procyon. For now my UFO works just fine though.

Depends on how long you want to veg them for. I have 9 plants in a 22"x22" tray, and it covers it just fine. The website claims to cover a much larger area, but I think it can cover a 2'x2' area good, anything over that and I don't know if I would trust it.

i tried 4, completely useless, or at least IMO, i was dissaponted, i saw stretching even at just a couple inches of four of those things 5 inches from 4 plants. I bassically tried one from each direction slightly angled toward the center of the four plants so that their light would overlap, and was very dissapointed, i wouldnt even sprout seeds with them, what people say about their light being very thinly cast and not being picked up by the plants seems accurate to me. I hope you have better luck if you try it, also it could be just me, I'd go for the t5 setup instead defintily.

btw i dont want to discourage this if this is an experimentation, i could just be retarded. But if this is one of those things where you want a sure thing that is cheap to run, go with what you know is a proven technology imho.

In all honesty, you probably would be better off with a t5 set up than with a UFO. But I prefer the UFO for it's near zero heat output. It reduces alot of issues I have with a veg chamber. The t5's don't put out much heat, in comparison to a MH bulb, but still enough that in smaller spaces you need an exhaust fan, even if a small one. I havn't needed one with the UFO, and I've had absolutely no growth issues. They appear to stretch a little bit more than growing under a HPS, but my plants have stretched much less under the UFO than they did under CFLs, with the UFO being about 5-8 inches away from the tops of the plants. With the CFLs, I had to have the plants about 2" away, which means that I had to adjust the lights almost every day.
