LEC - Light-Emitting Ceramic

Here's a thread about some "other lighting" than LED.

Phillips has a new lamp and fixture to replace the Ceramic Metal-Halide. It comes in 315 watts, and supposedly replaces a 600w or more. The PAR and UV output are better, and I've heard that there is very little heat produced. It also has a CRI of 92.

I haven't used one, but a friend is using several now. I think I would spend $600 on one of these before I spent the same amount on an LED fixture.

I was wondering if anyone here is using them, or if you have an opinion about them.

They work well. 600w replacement is pushing it, depends on the space. A few member her have used them to great result.

I still think the optic grow lights is a better value. Saves money on buying new bulbs every year.

ETA: ICmag has a huge thread dedicated to the CMH bulbs. Including the 860w allstart. I'd check that out as well since there are a lot of people using them.

It's a rip off a magnetic ballast to hps will ignite a cmh bulb that you can find on any number of lighting sites for cheap as Shit. It looks cool though esp the reflector. Fuck them for 600$ that can buy you 3 1000 watters on eBay
A high frequency hps ballast would rattle the lamp to pieces in the long term. You can get a better deal on just the lamp and ballast from advanced tech lighting.

You can have a 400 watt cmh light kit for cheap like I said a magnetic hps ballast only will light up a cmh bulb of equal watts. Never noticed any rattling to death

Faster flower onset, better resinous oils, yes on the les stretching/more node growth..
That was like my 3rd run with them clones, under that lil 315 she gave me....I think 12 zips
I'll have to make sure.
Nice never used those but have other cmh it looks like it's reflector and bulb position is the key . So it yielded a bot 75% of a 600 watt hps then if you got 12 zips

Yeah, and that was just water and neptunes harvest/tea...and very rich medium
They could have went longer(chopped at 9 weeks I think).

Opinion?
It's a bulb...plenty of orange, yellow and green.

It won't be used in space.

However, if I were interested in using bulbs again, I'd consider it over HPS.

Link to the bulb your talking about? The all start and retro white cmh bulbs can use a magnetic hps ballast, the mastercolor used in the sunsystem lec require a low frequency ballast.

Not calling you a liar but not all cmh bulbs are the same... I'd like to know which series of bulbs you're talking about specifically

Just looked up that 125$ 860 all start and it also requires a magnetic ballast ;)

The philips allstart series is not the same as the philips cdm master color series.
Lmao at u... What makes thatPhillips so much better then a 20$ cmh 400 watt bulb with higher wattage longer life and higher lumens and is one fifth the price? Your telling me that I can't put that 315 watt expensive as he'll cmh light in a 400 watt hps magnetic ballast like any other cmh bulb would? Shit then Fuck that bulb it's already at a disadvantage with me

This is why I can't stand RIU sometimes, so many trolls....seriously! Do some freaking research. Thank you to @rollitup for introducing this thread. @genuity and @GroErr have these lights and are doing VERY well, with almost half the wattage used and less heat. I believe @dbkick has some of these lights as well.

If people would do research, there is a HUGE thread on ICMAG about this topic, with several commercial growers/at home growers using them with amazing results.

420mag just started a topic recently about it.

THCfarmer has many members and a long thread about it as well. This tech seems legit, basically a HPS that is flower spectrum and therefor 4-60% more efficient....it IS NOT a regular CMH bulb y'all, it's a brand new tech.

I was hoping there would be some wholesale discounts or something in this thread lol.

Cliff Notes from my research/post from documented sources:
More resinous buds
Better spread than LED
40-60% more efficient than HPS
Plants finish 1-2 weeks early, and i have seen several sources say this is true coming from LeD background which is already quicker!
Half the wattage of HPS
Ability to grow over 1.3 GPW
5-10 degree Fahrenheit than hotter thanLED=way cooler than your HPS
Cheaper $ than LED
Lower cost than HPS; these run about 3-4 amps so about half the power?

Someone get some of these wholesale for real, I will take a couple!

Be that as it may, it's not a good idea to mislead people into thinking they can just plug one into a standard ballast. it doesn't work.

I agree though, its a lot of money to spend, but the results are very good
