What kind of light are you using? If it's an HID giving it some distance should not be a problem. Compare residual temps to radiant temps. I'm hoping you're in veg?

It's a 600 so is a bit close.
Leathery as I put it refers to a thickening of the leaves around the
top of the cola.
not very dry or burnt but wouldn't like to be much closer.
I'll back it off some tomorrow, straggler catching up now
anyway.

could describe it too. Eagle claw a good one as well. Is it heat?
Had a cfl blow and had to flip two plants at like 4"
or so. Still made a bushy 20" plus(nycd) though and seem to
be flowering nicely now despite early onset of flowering.
Learning point for me maybe
I'm afraid the temps thing went over my head a bit, got mid
80s at the colas with a fan on. I struggle to get lower except
in winter.
