Hey everyone - this is my first post here but I’ve been reading and lurking for over a year or so unregistered trying to take in as much as I can from a variety of past threads and journals.
I’m preparing to start a 2 plant auto flower grow in an illegal state, though one of the states that is decriminalized for possession and probably a year or two away from rec. I own my own 1 story ranch house with a half finished half unfinished basement. I’m actually going to be growing in one of my ground level spare bedrooms, the furthest away from the front door.
I’m going to be tenting it, a 4x4 with 2 autoflowers under 2 300W LEDs. Carbon filter, speed controlling fan, onagel as a backup. Going to exhaust into the same room, I have plenty of fresh air coming in as needed. I’m not worried about the house smelling - we smoke in here constantly and any visitor we have outside of some type of service/plumbing - knows we smoke. I’m trying to keep it smell free and stealth strictly because of the legality in my state and therefore the neighbors.
I know all of the obvious don’t tell, don’t smell, don’t sell rules to live by. We have two windows, one between my neighbor and I and one on the front of the house (room is in the corner of the house), we will be covering with blinds and curtain and more on the inside if necessary after that. We also have central air AC. How concerned should I be about smell leaking outside if I’m not exhausting outside? I’m almost totally rest assured with the equipment I have but one thing I haven’t been able to read a lot about is outside smell leak, how quickly it would happen if the carbon filter or fan fails or something (power going out even).
I got a big tent even though we’re only doing 2 plants at a time so that we can trim and dry all in the tent. Is that realistic? I’m thinking when the time comes to harvest we trim inside the tent after 2AM when the rest of the world is asleep so smell leaking is less of an issue.
As far as noise, we’re looking at the 2 LED lights with their own fans and a fan on the ground, plus the exhaust fan on probably its lowest setting. Noise should be fine because the room is at the end of a hallway with other rooms between there and the living area/front door, but should I have any concern for outside the house, like on the other side of the wall between me and the neighbor?
I may be overthinking it, just trying to cover all bases. Any advice is appreciated! I do have more soil questions but I figure the tent/room setup has to be finished in planning first.
