L.E.D. Lighting and potency

I have limited growing experience with LED. They have there place in a grow, cloning or vegging short plants, but as far as flowering they are a waste of money. Be carefully on who you take advise from, every led company has the same claim about their unique arrays. They all claim theirs is the best. I have had 6-10 companies lobbing me to use their products, claiming they have the holy grail of LED. Usually after a short conversation with them, they realize an experienced grower see's right through them, and leave with their tails between their legs. One day they might be feasible but not yet, the initial cost is ridiculous. Don't let them fool you about grams per watt, or no heat, if they mention lumens ever, walk away. If your looking for an alternative light source I would recommend you check out induction grow lights.

Never used LED lights but form what I have read they keep all the plants at standard height and they have no side rays emitting. So you have to have the plant right below the led panel. The light just shines straight below unlike the hps. Oh and redickulous price.

I tried the induction light thing, the footprint was not very good,i know l.e.d. Is the future of lighting just hoping were getting closer, i had my apollo tested with a light meter and it was impressive p.a.r rating...

I came across a Chinese manufacturer a couple years ago through another forum and have been using their products since. They just keep getting better and better. I'll never go back to mh or hps. I really believe the additional spectrums coming from the LED's allow the plant to really thrive with a capable grower. The savings from less ac usage and no bulb replacement is another huge bonus. If I ever get approved as an lp we plan to outfit our facility with 100% led grow lights.

I've tried induction too. I agree the footprint sucks. Results from flower room was terrible, but they really did a great job in veg, except for the footprint.

Can you tell us the manufacturer? I haven't heard of anyone happy with LED results before.

It's so funny how we all have different takes on things.
Here's what I know. From what I was told the LED stuff from American is the best and works better than the chinky stuff. LED's DO get hot-ish. I find they throw a fair bit of heat actually. And the best ones are pricey. The LED's sometime fail at random leaving others to do the job. No real side throw.
Gotta disagree on induction. I like it and have seen it do amazing things. You need to adopt a slightly different style in your pruning. They also get warm but you can put the plants closer than HPS. Very nice resin production with less burn off of resin from infrared. Very tasty fruit production. Long long long bulb life. Environmentally friendlier than HPS. Better side throw then LED but not a good HPS. Also the penetration is less than HPS. But I still really like them.

I found the penetration to be dismal.
( talking about the induction )

I have no experience with induction grow lights, but I know several growers in Colorado who swear by them, for their resin production. They have abandoned all their HID, and now grow sea of green on racking. image.jpgimage.jpg

Insert commercial grow bashing here............

Bang your head all ya want Mr.
You ask me questions when you have used them yourself.
How come you don't use them anymore???

Again. What's good about them?

Some asian grow opp uses them for growing... stacked lettuce .

if they were good. They would be being used in industry.
Im an electrician. There's more things wrong with hthem than there is right. They have been around for years.
