keep killing seeds..

so ive had about 9 seeds and all 4 that sprouted have either died or just never really started, its my first grow and i KNOW ive fucked so much things up and i know what i did wrong.

ive read for months but there so many contradictions its hard to know whats right and wrong, so basically id like to know a few things.

i dont want you guys to think i want you to do my work cause beleive me ive done it, i just want a straight answer.

1) what are the standard things seedlings need to grow well?
2) when can they go under MH?
3)whats the best kind of conditions i can put newly germed seeds in ?

Tell us your setup first

1) Moist soil...stable warmer temp 74-84 degrees, i've read...higher humidity, around 70 I've read.

I just planted my seed in a solo cup with UNFERTILIZED soil. I watered the soil and let it drain for 30 mins before planting. I put the bottom of a water bottle over it for higher humidity and put the light on for higher temps. Should sprout and be good in a day or two. Also you can go more advanced and get some special bacteria or fungi to help promote fast root growth. They help the plant get more nutrients. Also i think people use dolomite lime to stabilize Ph, I think that's what they use maybe someone else can confirm.

What soil? Light times?

all you need is adequate light, say a cfl or 2 minimum and to keep the medium moist but not too wet. The easiest way to sprout seeds is to get rapid rooter plugs. If you are having trouble I highly suggest you look into getting a bag of them.

I get the paper towel moist them fold it on itself 2 times the place the seed in the middle



then cover. I would normally separate them on different plates but I ran out of plastic wrap so I did a little stacking



And wrapped them up



Put them in a drawer for a couple days and check for sprouts

a propogater and a cfl light preferably a 6400k close to the propagater is good conditions to start off a seedling and when the seedling reaches the ceiling of the propogater (depends how big the propogater is)mines is a big enough 1 take them out of the propogater to repot into bigger pots and they can go under hid lighting after that.

So I just planted these 2 days ago and have 3 of them popping out of the soil

I am crazy new to growing but have had 100% success with germing and starting seedlings so here is what I do. BTW 100% is a total of 26 plants @ different times.

Soak in water for approx 18 hours in a dark, warm place.

Follow directions to plant germinated seeds into Jiffy Peat Pellets, set a heating pad with a 2 hour timer under greenhouse tray on the warm or low setting to help keep the greenhouse warm and humid. Open lid of greenhouse every couple of hours for fresh air. Use a 26 watt "DAYLIGHT" CFL with a 18 on 6 off schedule over the greenhouse.

Keep cubes moist with a spray bottle for the entire time they are in the greenhouse.

My seedlings are usually taller than the greenhouse within 4 days, at this point I prop open the greenhouse until ALL of the seedlings are popped.

After all of the seedlings are popped I then transplant the pellets with my seedlings into my grow medium, before transplanting them I dip the base of the peat pellets into transplanting/root growth solution. I cover the entire peat pellet with the soil and actually go about 1/4 of the way up the stem of the seedling. I then water AROUND the seedling with PH neutral water so that the roots grow out searching for water. I continue to water by misting the plant and dirt for the first couple of days. After that I water via watering can for a week and 1/2 then at 2 weeks I give them the first full drenching with very weak nutrient solution.

heat which create humidity i use a heating pad now before i got it i used the top of my hot water heater they like between 78 and 82 ish

cover all your basses seedling stage is critical time easyest time to lose a plant once graduated seedling stage about 90% chance to make it the rest of the way to chop time

for seedlings i have around 80w of CFLS then i have a 400w MH/HPS for veg and flowering. then a 1x1x2m grow tent.

first u try not have a tap root poping out of the seed. there easy to mess up and damage. place all ur seeds in a bag of water. spring water. not city tap water. let sit in warm place are 70- 80 degress 24 hours. they should be cracked or have roots out. i like to place them on the back of my computer monitor. place in soil. i like miracle grow moisture control and i and perlite. miracle grow has time releas nut in it u dont want to water them to much. oh and i plant them in party cups dont fill the cups leave 2 inchs. place seran wrap over the cup. make sure u have drainage in the bottom of the cup. place under cfl 6500k. dont water for 3 days then remove wrap plant should be 3 inchs tall. fill around the stem of the plant with perlit. right up to the first set of leaves. now let the wrap off the cup. check ur grow area humdity. i perfer to have if its low ur soil will dry out faster. u dont need to water them much. have a fan blowing on them to blow heat from the light away. and get that light with in a inch. when moveing them to a mh. i put them under it for a hour a day for 4 days before moving them under. also let them grow 6 inchs before moving under mh. now if ur humidity is lower then 40 ur going to have to water more offten. its easy to over water them. most of the time if there falling over u over watered. also 24 hours of light.

I wanted to say that U have gotten a lot of info here and a lot of it is not exactly on the same page. It can get very very confusing. There is a link in my sig (2nd one I think) to Riddlemes journals and his "nuggets" there is some really good advice there from a pretty solid grower.

I do not want to start an argument but everything I have read says that U should NOT plant seedlings into soil that has time released nutes as it can be too much for them and burn them. Also saran wrapping them into a cup might be OK but U can not leave them in there for 3 days without opening them up for fresh air a cpl times a day...
