Katsu cut

I recently traded cuts and got a hold of the katsu cut from a experienced old school grower.

I had pre 98 bubba cut before. It was damn good. Lost it to an onset broad mites and pm.

This guy is telling me the katsu is a better cut. More complex than the typical coffee and cocoa in the pre 98.

He also said that it stretches more than the short and stout pre 98.

Do any riu farmers have experience with the katsu cut?

Looking more for info on the cut and not s1 seed stock.

I know icm and thcf have a shit ton of grows that I've read through.

Seeing if any riu members have the cut.

i've been around for a while, and i've heard all about the pre-98 bubba, and all the bubba hype in general. i also heard that for the most part, it was a bunch of hype. a bunch of b.s. spread by folks that thought they had some extravagant, unobtainable cut, that only the coolest of the cool could get. the folks at the now defunct advanced site, thought they had the holy grail of strains. and they bragged about hoarding, and not sharing the cut. i always thought that strange. long and short of it (imo) if you have some "oh shit," strain, that's hard to get, you should share it. but it is hard to find folks you can trust.

I have a hard time understanding that mentality as well. Why do people think it's important to hoard an elite cut and never share it? Do they realize if no one had ever shared that cut before them it would have never gotten into their hands to begin with? And what's with people who share a cut and tell the person they give it to never share it again. I'm sorry, but once you pass a cut onto someone else you don't own it anymore and trying to tell them what they can and can't do with it is total bullshit. If someone tried that with me I would purposely share it with as many people as I could just to spite him.

I can't even start to type something about cut hoarders as I will go into a huge fucking rant about these wanna be hollywood mother fuckers and how they want to control shit just like the entertainment industry tries to control their product after selling it to people.

So I'll just say I agree instead of leaving a wall of text here that is sure to piss off a tonne of folks :)

I'd like to add im super jelly KGP :) That sounds like a great find :)

I respect your opinion but having had the pre 98 I would say that it was great. Smell and taste were great. Trich production was great. Suffered a little on the yield and how terribly the resistance to pm was.
I was quite upset about losing it.

Katsu from over grow handed out 5 cuts to his friends. The only condition was each friend handed it out to 5 others and so on. This cut was never meant to be horded. Im going to do the same out of respect. First, im gonna run it though.

I've been runnin' pre '98 Bubba since early '09 . It is a stellar performer in my garden . It has weathered my newbie fuck-ups , mites & mold since I started without any issues . While some people have a problem with yield , few have a problem with what it does for them . Any one in Mi. got an official Katsu ? :bigjoint:

it wasn't terrible on yield. Just not the best. Barely any stretch. I like some stretch. Supposedly the katsu has much more stretch.

And yeah, you're talking to him.

I sent this cut out to close to 100 people with the stipulation that they spread the love. I can't imagine it would be that difficult to locate one. I highly recommend letting it go a full 10 weeks (looks done in 7) with a really good flush at the end to get rid of the chemical flavors. To this date, still the best smoke I've ever had.

The katsu cut is from Progressive Options, loved that cut. Are you in the LA AREA by chance?

Just the story I heard years ago. Sure wish someone would gift me a cut. The cut I got had some type of disease that would spread to other plants. I chucked it.

What i'd do for some of that Katsu. You have guys like greenthumb and nspecta using this cut in their breeding selling seeds for around 20$ a piece. Its very humbling to see that you pass this cut around for everyone to get a taste. Though the prospect is low, Hopefully i get to try her out one day.

Peace and respect.
