Just Turned on the 1000watt hps

Curious as to how far to set the lamp from the canopy? I temped it it is at 18" with 78 degrees?

I keep mine mine at 18 inches. If you have it air cooled you can use your hand to tell how close to put it (hold your hand under it for a min). But I found 18 inches works best for me! at 18 inches it is like resting a 600 right on them!
