just harvested trying to dry

well i just harvested my first crop and am trying to find a suitable place to dry them. im thinking of using a shoebox in a cool dark closet. i had tried this with on of the plants that had bugs on it. i put it in the shoe box in the closet for 3 days just as a tester. there was no mold and the marijuana looked to be drying correctly. upon smoking it i achieved the high i was looking for. im not sure if instead of 2 grams in the shoe box i can put 20 without problem. let me know you thoughts on cheep consealed drying methods. thanks ^_^ blaze on!

Trim all the bud while its still on the branch, then hang branch on close hangers (wire) then hang in closet for 4 days.

paper bag method gives it the classic "home grown" flavor though. to dry out my little smoke stash while i wait, i dry most of it the conventional way, and dry a few grams in a cigar box takes like a day or two to be "smokeable" but tastes like cedar or wood and isnt as potent as the final product

What do you mean by paper bag method has a "home grown" taste? You mean it was dried too fast and doesn't have that skunky weed smell and more of a cut-grass smell?

Yup it dries too fast and when it dries fast you get that grassy taste and smell. I use totes with fishing string to hang placed in a cool dark place. The lid on the tote traps moisture in making it dry slower.I dry in tote for 5-7 days removing the lid every other day then I cut the nugs off the branch and put them in mason jars and cure for another 5-7 days or longer if I don't need to get at the smoke.

i hang mine till they feel smokeable then cut and put in jars. they will moisten back up, they stay for about amonth burping every day. 2-3 time if possible. sweet smell gets better and taste as well no harshness just sweet taste.

dont really think light or dark has alot to do with it. as much as the humity effect on the drying process.

Yeah I've learned from my first harvest that drying too fast is not a good idea. I made the mistake of putting a fan on the buds and they never lost that grass taste, the cure helped but still had that "home grown" taste as you stated.

This time around I let them dry until the only the surface was partially crispy, not the entire bud & stem. I then placed in jars and so far so good, they are lightly damp again when I burp them and they smell good and dank and sticky too! MMMM..."home grown" weed will get you high but without the taste you're missing out on a lot! Getting high with a nasty after taste ruins it for me no matter how good the high is. Thats just my 2 cents

i agree taste is every thing. JJ if they seem real wet then dump out for a day then put back in jar, and continue burping. time is the deal here. its hard not to want to sample. but the longer in jars the better. i think. well so far from what i have seen in my drying. and hey im learning to.

Thats what i've been doing and now they've been curing for a week. I left 1 of 3 nugs uncured to compare. The stuff that has been curing for a week is all glistening with crystals and it smells like weed! It's more potent as well.
