two 42 watt 6500k bulbs

stealth hydro reflector

(2) Silentx 120 mm comp fans powered by Silenx IXAFCEX Four Channel External Fan Controller

Light proofed with IR blocker material taped up with aluminum tape.

My dwc is a 4 gallon res with two 6 inch air stones using 5 inch net cups with park seed bio dome starter plugs. (similar to rapid rooters)

I am growing two bag seed and two short rider seeds in hopes i get a female of each. I had to recreate this post because somehow my account was deleted and i had to remake my account.

Temps are holding at 88 degrees so far today. I have not installed the large fan yet.

On hand i have

(4) 105 watt 6500k bulbs
(4) 105 watt 2700k bulbs
(4) 42 watt 6500k bulbs


I am planning on vegging will the largest plant is six inches tall, then i will flip the switch and use the 2700k. I was hoping to use the 105 watt bulbs but i am not sure i can vent that much heat in a small cabinet.

As for lighting, the two 42 watt 6500k bulbs seem to be doing ok, I haven't noticed any stretching,

I decided to see if i can make the big bulbs work on advice from a member. So i unscrewed the 42 watts and screwed in a 105 watt 6500k bulb. I want to see what the temp does before i add more. ideally i want to use three 105 bulbs but i do not think i have the vents dialed in correctly for that yet. One step at a time.

I'm having a cool day, Temps are holding at 88 using the 105 watt 6500k bulb. I removed a fan i had sitting in the cabinet, I was testing the idea it was generating it's own amount of heat adding to the problem. Right now i have a 120mm fan as an exhaust and one as an intake.

I bought a Roor 250 water pipe, Smoked some sour diesel through it. It was the best bong i have ever smoked!

Bah up to 90 degrees again. I'm using more power so it's to be expected. I will be adding the large hole to the side wall of the cabinet. I'll trace the blowing side and cut it so it just fits and i'll hang it with aluminum tape. the grill side is the intake side so it will be facing in the cabinet. It's 100 CFM

Well i woke up today and the temps were 86 degrees using one 105 watt 6500k bulb. I'm sure the temps will rise as the day goes on, but it is a good sign. The IR blocker stuff is 80% installed. I do think the small box fan was generating some heat because temps are slightly cooler without it.

I will be increasing the light as i get the large fan installed, Ideally i wanted 315 watts for veg and flowering but we shall see what the temps do. thanks for following along.

right now its at 88 degrees with one 105 watt bulb. I know this isn't enough light but I am working in stages. I will need to really pour on the light for flowering as soon as the plants reach six inches.

that's a good question, For this first grow i will probably top the plants as i know very little about LST. I think i will spend some time reading about that method since i have limited vertical growth room. I have been so busy with dialing in my cabinet i have given little thought to the plants as far as training is concerned.

lookin good man, cant wait to see the 250mm fan in there!

My advice with toppin is tht u do not top autoflowering plants, they only have a set amount of days to live and any stress in the plants life will stop it reaching its full yeild.

I installed the 250mm fan on the side wall of the cabinet, as a test i used two 42 watt bulbs and one 105 watt bulb to the reflector just to see what temperatures i get off that setup.

well the exhaust fan didn't help as much as i would have liked, It has cooled down the cabinet but Im still playing with bulb combos.. right now i have one 105 watt bulb and one 42 watt bulb in the reflector.

i still would like to have 315 watts in there for flowering but i do not think that will be possible. I just do not have the room for a cool tube or ducting.

Thanks a bunch! I love looking at them. I am so hoping my largest bag seed turns out to be female, I really like that plant.
they have had 24/7 light for over 30 days. Last measurement the largest plant was 4 inches tall but no stretching was present.

The one auto flower plant is still small, its maybe 15 days old or so. i just sprouted another short rider so hopefully i will have at least one female from each bag seed and auto flower. I am using all four net pots until i can sex them. two of each.

That's why i have been spending so much time on bulbs, vents and cooling. I want the most light i can fit into that cabinet.

I hooked up two of the 105 watt bulbs, the temps are so far holding at 93 degrees. typical day in the summer where i live.

So as far as i can tell i get 90+ degrees with three bulbs despite the improved exhaust. Its drawing in air now i think i need to work on the intake fan. the comp fans are shit in my humble opinion.

Can anyone suggest a small fan i can use that will draw in cool air?

OO good idea, I was actually thinking along those lines earlier. I have a 250mm exhaust, what size would my intake need to be if passive?

man, not sure about that but i would start small and go up from there. you can always cover the hole back up. i put small boxes over the holes i made. the small boxes have holes in them also. this helps defuse the light. i almost got that same cabinet, but went with the u-haul box instead. it took a while to get the temps right, but they are good now.

I have a three inch hole cut in the back at plant level, and one directly above it as an exhaust. plus the newly installed 250mm fan in the side. I suppose i could turn that second exhaust into an intake fan.

My largest plant is right around 6 inches tall, Would it hurt the auto flowers to go on 12/12 even though they are still small plants?

thanks man, thats what its all about here. i put mine into flowering at 20 days and i topped it at 8 days. i tried to lst it just the other day and broke 1 of the branches off, the other, i put a stick under it and then pulled it down, that worked great. autoflowering plants can go 24/7 light for its entire lifespan, they should be atleast 20/4, for autoflower plants. if you look at my box, i have 2 intakes, a 6" and a 80mm. and then i have 5 exhaust, a 5" and 4 80mm, plus a 6" oscillating blowing on the plants and the light bar. like i said, it took a whi;e to get the temps right.
