Jobs and Medical Cards

I will be moving to California soon and was wondering if anyone with a medical card has had any issues finding jobs. I've heard they show up on background tests and may not hire you because of it.
Has anyone had any personal or second hand experience with something like that?

I applied for a union job and had no problems i got hired. I have my medical marijuana card and didn't have one question asked about it. I took a drug test before they hired me and i was taking hash oil hits the whole week before the test and went in and i guess i passed because i got hired. I think a lot of buisnesses don't even test for pot anymore, i could be wrong, but i don't know how i passed any other way.:weed::weed:bongsmilie

I think we are protected by the Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA but I have heard stories so I wasn't sure.

Has anyone with a medical card ran into any issues with getting drug tested by their employer and showing up positive for THC? Do they ignore it? I imagine you could probably sue the company if you lost your job over something like that, but I'm no lawyer.

Or they simply chose to ignore it. I hope most companies aren't testing for THC anymore but I guess it all depends on the employer.

If you are looking for a class A truck driving job, you are still governed by Fed. DOT laws and would be tested for weed.

the courts recently ruled that employers can discriminate against the use of medical MJ. So having the card doesn't do much good. My question would be more in line with, the testing lab releasing test results from medication i am under doctors care for. I believe that is more in line with HIPPA violation. Not sure though, i do know they will have to make some changes especially if it gets voted in.

"Question: If I get a card will my name be filed in a database to be accessed by federal law enforcement agents bent on arresting patients for medical marijuana?
MPP Answer: This is understandably one of the most common concerns about the state ID cards. However, fears of federal seizure of the state's records are often over-exaggerated. The California Department of Public Health — the agency charged with maintaining the ID card program — doesn't keep any of the cardholders' personal information. The department only keeps those records required by law: a digital photograph of the cardholder, the expiration date of the ID card, the county where the card was issued, and a unique assigned to the card. These are also the only data that is printed on the cards themselves.
Most individual counties do retain additional records of cardholders, including the ID card application paperwork. These records are sealed to ensure the privacy of the cardholders and could only be obtained by subpoena. It's highly unlikely that federal law enforcement officials would expend limited resources investigating individuals simply because they are in possession of an ID card. On the other hand, encounters with state and local law enforcement where the card may come in handy are exceedingly more common."

I know its a little different, but "the same concept apply"! an employer would only know if you accidently give out the information or if you ever got arrested or convicted of MJ then they would able to know.
