Jerry's Perpetually Organic Garden

Hello and welcome to the garden. I've been growing for a couple years now, thanks in no small part to this site. After a rather prolonged absence I've decided to start a new thread in hopes that it prompts me to update more frequently. I hope it works.

A bit about my setup:

  • I have 2 small flowering spaces with a 400mh and 600hps, and a small veg area with a few 26w cfl's.
  • I grow in a soilless mixture of biobizz light mix (peat), foxfarm light warrior, worm castings, 9-3-2 guano, mycorrhizae, and garden lime. Ratios depend on my mood.
  • For nutrients I'm currently using the General Organics line...can't complain thus far...
  • I typically veg around 4-6 weeks in small 5x5x5 black pots, then flower in 7x7x9 white ones.
  • My current strains: Dinafem Critical Jack, Barney's Pineapple Chunk, World of Seeds Afghan Kush, Bagseed Casey Jones, Barney's LSD, Big Buddha Chiesel, TGA Jack the Ripper, Reserva Privada OG Kush.
  • I do not top anything, I use LST or tying down or whatever you want to call it in conjunction with supercropping.
I only have a few pics to start with today, but will add more in the coming days. These were taken yesterday morning...

Here's a group shot under the 600

Critical Jack. Beginning to smell pretty outstanding. Very healthy plant overall. Likes to stretch.

Pineapple Chunk. Has smelled fruity since about week 2. Should be a good one I reckon.

Next, Casey Jones bag seed plant. I found 8 seeds in a quarter of some killer bud...upon investigating the bud, found a couple bananas, so I'm guessing she was self pollinated. She has been flowering for the same duration as the others, but has barely started to form any buds. There are 1 or 2 calyxes per node after 1 month of flower! I will be monitoring closely for hermie traits but if this girl is anything like her mom it will be WELL worth it.

Finally, Afghan Kush. This girl is very squat with super tight node spacing. During training she was painfully reluctant to branch, resulting in one super cola and one smaller one. The third branch I took as a clone which has only rooted in the past few week or so.

Here's a slightly closer shot of the Afghan.

That's all I could muster before my camera battery crapped out. I tried taking pics with my phone's camera (which is 8.0 megapixels...Droid X) but the hps kept making those damn lines that make it look like you shot the pics through a grate or blinds, so I'll get some pics of the vegging plants and other flowering ones soon.

So that's basically it. Comments are welcome provided they are respectful. Thanks for reading! :leaf:

Whats the make up for Casey jones?
John Luther ("Casey") Jones (March 14, 1863 – April 30, 1900) was an American railroad engineer from Jackson, Tennessee, who worked for the Illinois Central Railroad (IC). On April 30, 1900, he alone was killed when his passenger train, the "Cannonball Express," collided with a stalled freight train at Vaughan, Mississippi, on a foggy and rainy night.
His dramatic death, trying to stop his train and save lives, made him a folk hero; he was immortalized in a popular ballad sung by his friend Wallace Saunders, an African American engine wiper for the IC. Thanks to this song his life and legend have been celebrated worldwide for over a century. [1]

cool story
... i wonder if it was a diesel train because the thai that was used was billy goats oriental EXPRESS it would kind of make sense cua the genetic make up would kinda go with the name

Well nice to see the conversation picking up already. I acquired 2 new nutrient additives today...General Organics Bio Root and Diamond Black. The only part of the line I have yet to try is the Bio Marine fish emulsion...have to finish off my Neptune's Harvest first then maybe I'll try it.

I only managed to get pics of the same 4 flowering plants today...there are 6 additional vegging and 2 flowering, and I hope to get some shots of those up soon. But for now, we'll focus on the big four.

First, Critical Jack. Quickly becoming a favorite with her strong growth, wonderful stink and early trichome production.

As you can see she has tried to spread out horizontally much to my chagrin. After I took these pics, I brought a couple of her branches a little more inline with the pot and tightened some strings. I may have also added another bamboo pole, but I don't remember now.

Here's one of her branches close up. I think I'm going to be quite happy with this plant when it's all said and done.

Next, Pineapple Chunk. A bit droopy in the pic because these were taken pre-watering. A very nice branching plant in her own right, but a bit behind the critical jack developmentally. This plant smelled the strongest during veg..

Closeup of a branch. Can't quite tell from the pic but she is starting to get frosty. Just needs to quit stretching.

Casey Jones...where to begin with this one. In the days between the first post and now, she has maybe pushed out 1 new set of calyxes per node, while stretching an additional 50 nodes! Ok, a bit of an embellishment, but she is all stretch and no bud over 1 month after beginning flower!

Not helping matters is the fact she was a little thirsty at the time of her photo shoot, making her a little droopy...again, it was pre-watering...but it is hard to tell what the hell is going on in this bush. As you can see I had to supercrop a few more branches...many for the second or even third time already. I may have to do some serious pruning on this bitch soon. I suppose you guys were right about all the sativa referenced in the above posts. Exceptionally superb bud though, whenever it gets around to forming those.

While the Casey Jones branches the most of any plant I've every grown, this Afghan Kush is the polar opposite, which is not all that surprising given it's genetic makeup and country of origin. I mean it fought hard to not branch at all during veg. The fact it grew a second and third branch (one of which I cloned) is nothing short of miraculous. But the nodes are the main cola are tightly packed and exploding with calyxes.

This pictures don't do it justice. But this thing is going to get nasty.

And that's where the fun stops today. I will try my best to get pics of the other 8 plants I'm growing pronto. Many will likely be transplanted in the coming days...especially the Casey Jones, who I put into one of the flowering spaces this morning.

The first run of any strain is always a learning process :leaf:
