Azomite is volcanic ash from Utah and some of us especially super soil users use it in the mix. If you're not using ANY nutes, excess sulfur in the soil would be awesome for the micro herd.

I'm not really sure if Azomite is ash or not. It's like a clay'ey deposit, but is volcanic in origin. Not gonna argue about it though. I use it, and think enough of it to have it shipped. The shipping cost more than the actual product. LOL

Just like the OP mentioned in the first post, volcanic ash can be very good, or way less than very good, it depends on the composition. Lots of volcano's, not that many mined for the ash.

So, in short ... I don't have a clue about what you have.

@elduece ... got 1911?

I live in Costa Rica, land of many volcanoes which means lots of different types of volcanic soil. There are countless varieties of volcanic ash, some good, some not so good and some which won't grow anything. Volcanic ashe tends to be very clay based and depending on the type would depend on how much to use in your soil mix. I would suggest mixing varying amounts in a mix and running some clones to determine what amount in the mix will give you the best results.

Have it tested at a University or Agricultural Extension Service in your area. It's not expensive and you get to know EXACTLY what's in it.
