Is this a good EBB & FLOW system?

It'll work fine but it seems expensive. If you make a stand from 2x4s and use a storage container as a rez you'll save big bucks, just so's you know - are you shopping online only or do you have a hydro store in the area?

I don't know, never bought one premade.

Let me think...

Tray, rez, stand, pump, flood fittings (inlet, overflow) - sized to the outlet of the pump, probably 1/2" but check pump description to make sure, timer, airstones, airpump... (aquarium/pet stores have 'em). Bam you're good. Make the stand 5" taller than the rez, basic table shape but about 30" square on top, that's just right to prevent the tray from sagging in the middle or on the edges like the one in your link will.

One thing - 50l of hydroton isn't enough to fill the tray. Unless you've got huge spaces between the pots it takes about 100L for me to do one tray.

They're all the same, man. All they do is just sit there after all... you'd be hard pressed to find one that performs differently than another. The only difference is price and pump life.

I grow in a 4 x 4 space with a 600 watt HPS and get .7 grams per watt with 2 liter hempys on drip irrigation.

Its a cheaper setup then Ebb and Flow if your interested in saving Cash.

If you want 1 gram per watt you can use one gallon pots.

tequnicaly i would say this is a flood and drain system - pumps once to flood nd gravity drains

ebb and flow - pump to flood and another pump to drain

if u have a nice hight in room i love flood and drain - all at nice hight

low head room try ebb and flow - buckets live an inch of ground

sorry just being padantic :D

400 bucks is market value but as people said u can make your own for fraction of cost

I built my system for under $50 which includes the pump, fittings, everything. $400 is an outrageous price for that setup. Rubbermaid tubs for your res, concrete mixing trays as your flood table, 2x4s for your stand and you've already cut out about $300 right there.

Homebrewers set up cost less and is very effective. When I make my next set up , I will use the tubs like Homebrewer unless I find a great deal on another tray .( used ) . When I first built mine . I bought everything new and didn't shop around . I was new and in a hurry to get started . The guy at the Hydro shop knew it too . Your best money is on building your own . Decide what you want , build it clean , and it will work again and again. After your first grow , you will have paid for everything and will be cheap to get restarted . 6 blocks are like $15 , left over nutes , and add clones.

Im using cinderblocks for my 'stand' for the tray. Its perfect, at 1st I built a pvc tray stand which was easy, but just un needed after finding cinderblock method, It is rock solid, rez fits perfectly. At 1.19 per block, 8 blocks needed, not bad stand for $9.60!!

Yea I am using 2 blocks laying on ther sides on ontop each other, for height of 16", so my rez is about that, add the lid, 13" or so. I then add a couple 1x2's to run the length of the tray bottom for added support. so i have 4" gap to tray bottom. this is nice and low enough for me and adds some height to look at my plants :)
