is my seedling upside down?

howdy all

first time growing, just had my 2nd sign of life, the seed seems to have broken ground.

i noticed the seedling is somewhat yellow, and there is no presence of a seed shell to be found. is my seedling growing upside down?

i planted about a 1/6" taproot facing up after seeing the graphic explaining how this was optimal, but pointing up is indeed counter intuitive to taproot down.

judging from the picture, is this root and will it need to be replanted the proper way? if this is the case, would it also be best to turn off the lights until it's rooted rightside up?

sorry for the giant picture, i figured clarity would be best.

It's fine. It knows which way to grow even when planted with the tap root upside down.

thanks for the reassurance. so you're saying this growth is root then? would sprinkling more coco on top would make it a bit more comfortable? i was worried when planting that it was too shallow (slightly less than half an inch)

should i leave the light on and put the the seran wrap back on the keep the humidity high?

You said you planted tap up. The seedling is upright. No domes now. No cover. It will damp off if you do most likely. A CFL is fine well above it for a few days..

right on. i'm hoping it's not even root. i see a sliver of green and it seems more girthy than other people's pictures of upside down seedlings, so hopefully the cotyledon will emerge.

i didn't squeeze out the water from the coco after the initial watering, and just left it for about 4-5 days before planting the seed. i haven't added any water since. might it just be the reflection of the light making it look wet?

if it is too wet, would it be advisable to leave it under the gentle breeze of a fan?

Gotta remember that if the top is that wet, everything underneath it has even more water in it. Try to scoop up a little bit off the top and pinch it between your fingers if it drips out of that and you havent watered in 5 days you're way too wet and id do something to dry it out some.
I had several seeds that popped up like that and stopped because they were over watered.

appreciate the tip. when your seedlings were overwatered, was it coco or soil?

i did a pinch test and while it wasn't dripping, there did appear to be some particles of moisture. i'll put it under the air-conditioner's breeze... the room is hot anyways, the lil lady could use some cooling down.

I use rooter plugs before it goes into a dwc system but same idea. They held more moisture in them they looked like they did and it took me a few dead ones to figure that out.

Hopefully this one pulls through!
Next time squeeze the water out before you plant. Damp not wet.
