Is it safe to harvest?

I don't have a way to view the trichomes and I'm not sure if she is ready to come down yet so I could really use your help. Based on what you can see from these pictures would you say that it is safe to harvest this plant?

I tried to make sure that I was able to upload some hi-res images so that it may be easy to view. Also what could be causing the yellow tips on my plant? I'm using CES (Cutting Edge Solutions) and the mix is based on a recirculating system. Thank you for taking the time to help me out.

they look a bit small to harvest. How long have they been in flower? (date) what strain is it. Yellow/brown leave tips....raise the light a little!

you've put all of this time and effort in.... go to radio shack a buy something to check the trichs with!!! I got a handheld microscope for $12 the other day.... trust me.... after all the work you've put in WHY would you want to leave it up to guesswork???

Having said that..... it looks early still.... but get something to view those trichs!!!!! good luck~

looks way too early to harvest... look at the hairs and if 80% have darkened and receded back into the bud...

leaf tip margins are no biggie... just means your pushing her to her limit on the ferts, so keep an eye on it and dont overdo it...

any wild guess is just a guess you havent told us how long it has been in 12/12 nor the genetics of the plant so there is no way to make an accurate determination...

indica dominant hybrids strains can be ready to harvest typically 8-10 weeks
sativa dominant hybrids can be anywhere between 10-16 weeks
ruderalis/indica hybrid (autoflower) from seed to finish 55-75 days
ruderalis/sativa hybrid (autoflower) or aka "superautos" can take from seed to finish anywhere from 70-120 days

again it all depends on the genetics... and it looks perhaps like it has ruderalis in it, but again who knows??? lol ;)

and just for the record.... those burnt tips aren't from your light being too close.... if it were me, this far into flowering those wouldnt concern me as much as getting a look at the trichomes. If the burnt tips continue to keep you awake at night the first thing I would do is stop the nutes... and since you're probably close to harvest, that would be a good idea anyway.

First I want to say that I am sorry for posting this in more than one place. The strain of the plant is "Blue Ribbon". The reason I haven’t just gone out and bought just any ole magnifier for 5-10 dollars is because the one I want is the “Gro1 1.3MP USB LED Digital Microscope 10x & 300x” (http://dlwholesale.com/product_info.php?products_id=377)

microscope_digital.jpg

I figure if I am going to spend my money I'm going to get what I want. It has been in flowering for about 2-3 weeks. I found out that the reason the buds may be so small is due to the fact that I made the mistake of cutting off all the shade leaves. I am not able to move the lights any higher then where they are because I am growing in my bedroom closet and the hanger rail is what’s holding up the lights.

i had the same problem of not knowing when to harvest. I bought a small electronic microscope off of amazon for pretty cheap. I am three days away from harvest, most of the trichs are cloudy. It really helps out to have a scope.

2-3 more weeks dude. 9-10 weeks is the average. dont listen to whatever your seed company said if you bought from one they always put their stuff like a week forward [helps sales]

ahhh cpa clones... yeah the elephant has the mendo purps and urkle purps in them so if only 2-3 weeks then def got at least 5-6 weeks to go... and the blue ribbon i have no idea on the genetics never heard of it... guessing perhaps some blueberry in it just on the name itself... so if that also an 8-9 weeker as well...

and they arent too small for only flowering for such a short time as the genetics might be late bloomers, and not really put on any real weight till the last 2 weeks, which is what most do anyways... ;)

I will have to look in to that and get me one for now, but because I do a lot of youtube videos about my grows I need one that is of a professional nature.
Proffesional videos should have professional quality product, a proffesional scope is good but you should know that a 3$ scope can give you the same results as a 100$ scope.

I own both a digital and handheld scope like posted above and virtually never pull out the digital, the handheld scope is very reliable and convienient, I do not like dragging a laptop around my grow room and would never snip early to put under the scope!

I see that it was stated to move my lights, but what do I do in the case where I can't move the lights any higher then where they are? I am only running 2 x 150 HPS lights, and from the picture the plants are as follow:
(L) "Puprle Elephant" is roughly 5" from the bulb and (R) "Blue Ribbon" is roughly 8" from the bulb.

O, and why is it that I don't get all the different colors that I see others getting from their grows?

just goes like that sometimes sadly, can't tell you how many GDP that looked like they should be named GDG [grand daddy green] cus the purple is nearly extinct on the buds!

if temps 5" from tops is cool say under 80 then dont move them the small amount of luminosity coming from the bulbs isnt going to hurt them... only if it is too hot and burning them...

the color is due to anthocyanins in the plant's chemistry and if you let the nighttime temps get cold enough say closer to 60 they will start to come out... ;)

Ok, thank you. Right now the temp in and out of the closet stay right around 78 - 82, I try to run the AC off and on so that the air in the room comes down. I havent seen what looks to be burning but you guys could tell me be better seeing as to how I am still seeing myself as a rookie at this.

(Blue Ribbon) about 8" from bulb
