Is It Ready Yet?

Sorry to post yet another, but this a question I haven't seen yet.

The buds are all frosty. The white hairs have mostly turned brown and turned in on them selves. Under the microscope all the clear globes have gone milky and a few turned amber. The website says 8-9 weeks, it was more than 8 weeks since switch. I remembered the adage, when they look ready, give them more time.

Well guess what? Now the buds are all coming in with new white hairs! Big calyxes, clear globes, and even frostier leaves. Should I let it go more? And any other comments about a second spurt, please.

I've learned to look for 85% milky/5% amber and 10%clear or as close to that as you can get. I would just go by that.

Tough without pics but sounds like you are describing foxtails, ignore them as far as harvest is concerned and go by how the bud looks.

Ok... I read a little from you book site, too. Seems "is it done" is highly variable, by breed and I'm finding, by plant.

I am growing two God Buds from BCBudDepot, my third grow with this strain. One plant is mostly Indica, and is nearing completion (having harvested a few of the more 'mature' buds). While the other plant is much more sativa, 20 percent taller and it seems to be far from complete. Calyx on top of calyx with no end in sight.

I suppose I'll go with the plant's signs of when it's done. If I get a giant cola full of foxtails, so be it. I'll find out if I like it- no one wants to go out on a limb and say whether it is a good or bad thing from what I've read.

One thing is for sure, I'm glad I went with a strain I am happy with. Seems if I went with a strain that was new to me, I might have had a whole new set of problems to solve. This grow I was able to diagnose a N deficiency, been nearly perfect watering, and a pretty good judge as to when it was done. Except for the foxtail thing.

Never seen a problem with foxtails, I'd rather see foxtails than nanners

and you're right every strain is different just like every garden is different. There is no one size fits all, but as you gain experience and you see it many times you will get an overall feel for when they are done
