is it possible to vent without putting a huge hole in the wall..diagram attached

I am trying to figure out ventilation and odor control without damaging the property too much and cutting a huge hole in the wall. This is a 10x10 bedroom downstairs in the basement, Right now I have a couple plants vegging but nothing in my flower room. I would like to vent to the chimney and use some sort of carbon filter or ona gel. Where is the best place to mount an exhaust fan? Intake? carbon filter? Should a 6in fan work for exhaust?

my exhaust runs through a filter then into my attic via the heating vent. I just capped off the existing vent in my attic and placed my exhaust duct in with a flange. i don't know how your basement is set up but if you have a heating vent you can exhaust through it works great and you don't have to hack up your pad.

Sounds like you have a perfect setup for venting to a chimney....I have my fan sitting on top of my tent drawing air through a charcan filter inside the grow area......no smell out my chimney.....

I do have a heat vent maybe I can tap into that and still run it out the chimney some how. My landlord is gonna be thrilled when I have to take a chisel to the chimney for some venting duct

If it's a basement bedroom ... does it have a suspended ceiling where you could cut a ceiling tile and replace it later ... or so later it would match buy a new one to cut and put in place and later return the old one that would match?

If it has a suspended ceiling then you'd have access in all different directions once above it.
