Is it possible to grow from a Stem

I was wondering if it was possible to grow from a stem.. The stem is dry... from some old bud... If i soak it in water and put rooting hormone on it... Will it do anything?

the answer is its never been done.

i extremely doubt it - the cells are undoubtedly all dead and cannot possibly undergo mitosis (cell division) in order to grow and develope roots

never thought of it, but i can tell you this:
-it is always harder to clone anything that has been flowered once
-the more wooden the plant tissue gets the less likely is it to root again
-and once it been dry it is dead

i would suggest you to do a bit research into cloning trees, maybe there is a way for this too
