Is it okay to cut off a large amount of fan leaves at once??

A lot of growers do just that .. Iv'e seen ones that remove all leaves in the last week or two . I'm sure you will hear both side with this post but I don't . If you want the lower buds to fill in more .. I would - If your saving it for cloning matterial - I would leave them and make the lower branches stretch a little for the light .

Great question....and a question I would also love a conclusive answer to.
I have always been under the assumption (through grow books, vids, trial, error, and scientific botony) that photosemphasis is a process of converting light to energy, via the largest receptacles of light,.... leaves. Therefor, cutting these would result in no measurable gain in fruits (bud) ... with the exception of a fan leaf covering a massive flowering area with many smaller leaves, though again, this begs the question of when and if, to cut fan leaves)
I have read that people (experienced, and within this very forum) cut fan leafs to allow light to the buds.....do the buds have the same photosemphasis values, capacity and production as the leaves? As I understand, The leaves suck up energy and distribute the love to the buds.....though if there were NO large fan leaves to collect the energy, can the buds do the same thing???

I'm currently about about 4 weeks into flowering, is it okay if i cut off all the non-sugarcoated leaves so the buds can get more light??
#1 NEVER chop more than 20% of the leaves of the plant. if you do it will shock the plant, plain and simple.
#2 what your saying DOESNT MAKE SENSE!!! the "buds" dont absorb light at all, they are FLOWERS not leaves. leaves absorb light.
yea.... exactly. these kids and there tactics.
if you chop the leaves off your going to fuck your plants up. plain and simple.
yeah you're right i do need to learn that by now and i wont have to do any cutting, honestly i just forgot about trying it. appreciate the replies everyone, knowledge absorbed lol.

NO next grow make all your cuts before week 2 of flower starts..i thin my plants out all the time to get more light to certain bud spots, to prevent high RH and to prevent mildew but i never touch anything after week 2 of flower unless its at the very bottom and yellowing from lack of light a N def..

I lollipop from end of veg throughout flowering (as those lower leaves die off anyway)
I did thin out some of the upper fan leaves to allow more light through the upper canopy and my 6 girls are doing great!
No more bushy plants but serious branches riddled with buds.
I definitely trimmed less than 10% per plant maybe 5% even.
