My green crack is 4 weeks into flowering and these started to form. First time doing hydroponics and I wondered if I stressed them with cold water and one time they had light exposed to them during there dark cycle. I will post pictures
my guess is swollen calyxs i had just harvested outdoors some bag seeds didn't know the strain but 1 plant produced just under 2 pound and smelt like pineapple I popped open a couple dozen calyxs hoping to get a seed even just 1 but nothing it was a sensimelia pineapple so before pulling it I took a few clones yes whilst in bud.. anyhu its hard to determine unless you pull them and pop them open.

just a calyx, you will commonly find a pair of big ones at the base of flower clusters or nodes.

Actual those look like seed pods as seed pods start growing of the stem then work there way up the lat.. at 4 weeks im guessing the seed (if it is seed) has not yet developed and is still immature.. if it is seeded then it's main focus is to concentrate on producing seed and to stop growing flower. Hey bro hope its a swollen calyx.

how long do these pods have to be visible before a seed would be inside? I have popped them open and they are empty but they have only been present on the plant for a few days

Many cultivars especially ones with afghani heritage, make those pairs of giant calyxes, you sometimes even find a small micro proto seed in there.

All my plants look like that

I'm not actually sure but i think to get full matured seeds you would have to grow a full matured plant the plant would have to go through its stages,, just like growing bud until it's fully matured should be the same as seeds. I'm also guessing that if there is nothing in the calyxs then that's exactly it is a calyx..

Remember that the natural state for cannabis is to have both sexes... on the same plant.
The separation of sexes is the result of selection. There will always be evidence of this.
Without us farmers doing what we do, it will revert.

Even a normal female plant can develop nanners if left out long enough or fed enough nitrogen.
However, I'm willing to bet most of my reputation that you are just looking at a sexy girl.

A seed pod is a calyx and ANC is correct it is a female :-)

Hey king1 I've been reading through the dense nug thread with you in it twas a pop corn eating moment.lol.. any hu lets blow up this post with a bit of back and forth banter... so in reply to your comment.. I could be wrong and might have to Google or get ur point of veiw. but my theory is yes you are right it's a female plant. Only females produce buds and or seeds hence only a female can have babies in all aspects created in this world dogs cats humans etc.or ild make you my qquèn grow1 and come impregnate u and have a knowledgeable weed connoisseur baby.. lol. apart from the sea horse where the male sea horse squirts out the kids... so a calyx is a seed pod weather theres a seed in there or not.. I would think a calyx does not grow a seed and seed pod does even though they look the same they are not.. also interesting post you sent in dense nugs about all companies sell Hermes and if you have a seedless strain ur into make millions???. My syndicate partner has sensemilia seeds not 1 plant produced a seed from an out door grow.. looking forward to ur rebuttal.. happy growing kg1.

When in natural state does a mj plant have both sexes?? When you are trying to determine if it's female or male?? Would a seedling fem seed have both sexes in its natural state.. or even sensemilia?? I think this may only occur when you are unsure what sex your mj plant is. Is it male is it female is it both??

A calyx is just a leaf, possibly a primordial flower at some point in evolution outside of marijuana idk do a simple google and you tell me.

So you have the genetics that have so far eluded forty years of growing here and from banks, i dont know why i even bother trying to pass on knowledge when it is that simple to breed out and create herm free strains.... palm/face #%& goodgrief!

I'm from nz I myself and most people I know that grow have never brought seeds from any company that are usually regenerated seeds pulled from a harvest off outdoors.. I say most because here most of us are scared to order off online companies..I also have a seed collection that I cherish. Consisting of 10 different strains known and a few bag seeds wich come from a nice oz.

I wish I could get my girls to drop seeds... I literally had a plant live under a male dropping pollen and I got like 20 seeds.
Exodus cheese has a reputation for not seeding easily.

Can't wait for spring to run them all and find the best offspring of exodus vs africa

Hey ANC,, good on ya for pollinating to keep your strain going,, I never had a male plant pop up out of the 8 seeds I layed last spring which starts August October here in the southern hemisphere. Harvest was mid April. Anyway I never got seed drops was hoping they would herm. I still have the bottom quarter of the plant in the ground hoping that maybe i will still get seeds but they are only growing mould..

My male is from seeded landrace weed. It was a really butch little guy I could tell in the first 3 weeks or so by the node structure that it was a boy.

A very good way of getting some balls is to hit plants with high nitrogen guano.

Those picks look like a preflower and many times swell like that. Not saying you may not have a problem elsewhere. Developing seeds make the calyxes firm or hard quite quickly so you might probe with a toothpick. If seeded the pistils should turn brown and recede also with less ne flower development.

All my girls show this in flower... I think the confusing part is that it forms in that area where the petiole of the leaf and the branch of the flower meets the stems and sit on the outside where the male flower clusters typically develop. it is always just the two little wings with two white pistils poking out.
