Is humidity really that important?

Right now I have a humidifer that runs 24/7 and the humidity of my grow room goes from about 40-55 but normally stays around 47 and I have that thing running all the time.

My question is how important is the humidity i'm still on the seedling stage and this humidifer is going to kill my electric bill is it that important?

I've had my battles with humidity levels myself, ventually I said f?/$# it and threw out the humidifyer. Low humidity can cause thin papery leaves, and u may have to water the plants more often. 40-50% is adequete for vegging plants, but come flowering time, u want it low so ur buds don't mold.

45 should be fine but ur cuttin it close u dont want it in the 30's and never over 80...my dark period i drop the humidity to 50 and its usually at 65-75 and when u dry ur bud the humidity should stay about 45

Nah, like the previous posters said, too low and you get papery leaves and real low trichome production.

Now in flower, there is something to trying to keep humidity down to prevent mold, but that isn't the case in veg. Then you need a nice level - nothing to overly worry about in Veg though really - just keep it 40%-70% range and you are cool. In flowering I try and keep it 40%-50%.

i was talking about flower,
i have had remarkably better trichome production with humidity levels at 30-40% throughout flower. these crops have been substantially better than times when humidity was 50% or over.
