Is Extended paper towel germination ok?

Does germinating the seeds in paper towel longer help the root? Say for example, if my seeds show root when I check on them after 2 days would letting it sit for another 2 days be beneficial or does it really not matter?

I can't really qoute you a precise source, mostly just my own experience.

The quicker you plant the seed (once the tap root is visable) the better! You see, the thing is, the longer the taproot gets; the more it is prone to getting damaged. The taproot is a fragile thing and it does much better when protected in the soil or Hydro system (I'm not a Hydro guy, so I take the later for granted - someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Not saying this as you are wrong thcammo just what I find to work the best. I too use a paper towel. just popped a seed four days ago using this methond (hydro) and it has grow two inches in the last days. Too long is bad yes but there is a happy meduim if you take extreme caution with the lil gal. Mine germed in three days the tap root was an inch and a half or so and looked all fuzzy. I took it from towel straight to hydro no rockwool or anything I just carefully placed the meduim around the root in my case dollar general polished rock and its growing like a weed. When the root is fuzzy seems to be a good time for transplant. Don't know if this works for soil as I have never grow in soil. Best of luck

The taproot can and will start growing into the paper towel fibers. Removal can result in a damaged taproot. Get them into your medium ASAP.

i once saw a person who leaves his seeds in pt's until they had real leaves and everything.. it was the craziest thing i think i've ever seen..

dude said he does it that way all the time, so idk.. they look to be nice seedlings when he transplanted them though....

but i tend to agree with everyone else, young roots can get easily damaged in the pt's, and transplanting sooner would be wiser.. i even know a lot of people don't like to use pt's at all for the reason of damaging young roots..

there is no best of both worlds it seems in this area. i have put seeds directly into the soil after they had cracked and amount a 1 mm taproot and they died. i have waited for the taproot to be about 1/2 inch long and they thrived. anything over a inch long is overkill i believe.

i dont germinate with paper towel anymore. too much un nessesary handeling in my opinion, straight into soil in a propogator and on a seedling heating mat. so far i have had best results with this method.
