Ventilate it well with intake/ outake fans and keep the light far away until they mature.

you could buy a couple cfls and hoods to start out and then put the hps on them when they get a little more established. that does depend on how many seeds you germinate. if you can fit them under like 2 hoods, it will cost you no more than 20 bucks. well worth the money to save them from being potentially fried.

but yes, it can be done. just keep that shit like 3+ feet from them when they are just starting out.

For seedlings I'd buy some cfl's for 3 weeks of use then turn that bad boy hps on. But everyones different and you dont have to do this.

You need alot of ventilation. When I moved up to 600w I found out I needed at least
300cfm to keep it properly cool (below 85 F).

you could place the 600 watt up a little higher than normal, you could buy some CFLs and go that route... OR you could just use natural sunlight for the first couple days to a week or so and then put it under the 600. These plants grow like Weeds :)... :leaf:

i have a similar sized room, and im wondering where should i take the temp from? im messing with the ventalation right now. currently i have no exhaust fan, but im pumping in a/c.

You want to measure you temp about where the plants are..:clap:

If you have a sealed room you must introduce co2 to replenish what the plants use... ;-)
