starting out with my first grow room that measures 4'x 5' (grow area at least) and 7.5' high. I am thinking about a 70cfm fan vented to outside and an in-wall fan (fresh air in) to be timed simultanously with the light, and exhaust fan. Still thinking about CO2 system. Any cheap regulators out there and how do you set a timer to that to only release during light times and in increments. Is 400w enough and how far do i hang the lights for the veg compared to flowering stages. Is Co2 a neccessitiy. How many plants is suffice for this area and is topping plants worth it, if so how and when. I know, lots of questions, but i would rather learn from the experienced rather than from experience alone. Any help mucho is appreciated.kiss-ass

a 400w is good for about a 3x3 to 4x4 area, so you could do it, but a 600w would maximize your efforts. you can find the right one for you by multiplying the LxW of your growroom, and take the lumens and divide them by that number. anything around 7000-10000 is fine.

to find a fan, find the cubic feet of your room (4x5x7.5) which is 130 cubic feet, meaning you need a fan rated at least 130 cfm.

as for co2, it is not a necessity at all. it will improve your girls, but an intake will be fine for your first grow.

as for how many, it depends on how many you want, you could scrog and keep them small and just go quantity over size. or you could grow a couple monsters. whichever you want to do it is completely up to you. My friend has a room that I helped him built, it is 4x4x8 (almost identical), and it has a 36" veg room, and a 5' flower room. we do 9 decent sized plants in 2 gallon buckets under a 400w HPS. we have about a foot on each side (estimated) for storage. the 400w has a cool tube, which makes it be able to get around 6-8" away from the tops. meaning we will get about an ounce (hopefully) each plant, 9 ounces every 2 months (estimate again). oh and it's also a scrog with the indicas being topped.

Ok I have a 400 watter, and honestly its barely enough for 3 plants, I am going to be getting an additional 400 watter, I think 6 plants is the most I can achieve, I also veg a long time and hope for more than an ounce a plant. Heres a pic my 400 watter is acheiveing, looks amazing but yield is a concern..
