is 3x3x6 tent too small for 1000HPS?

I should have posted this topic here first instead of in indoor.
Anyway I m thinking of getting a 3x3x6 hydrohut and hanging the 1000HPS in there. My fan clears 620 cf/m and I use a thermal heat shield. in my old toxic tent I was getting the 1000watt about a foot from the canopy.

It seems that more watts/sq ft the bigger your buds would get or the better chances of getting a gram or more per watt. Thats my 2 cents though.

I told one of the employees about using 1000HPS in a small enclosure and she seemed to think you would kill your plants if you didnt know what you were doing. She also seemed to insinuate that the plants would get too much light...is that even possible?? The sun burns brighter than a 1000HPS on bright days. So thats pretty much every day out where i live in CA. except the 4 month rainy season.

I would use a 400w for a 3x3 tent. 600W max.
You can kill them with too much light.
I have "light poisoned" them with the 400w.

Here Check this out. It may help. 10,000 lumen or foot candles is plenty.

Well, I wasn't sure if you could ever have a case of too much light because te sun gets brighter than a 1000 watt at certain times.

I deffinately got the 1000HPS 10 inches from the light with no problems, Taller plants being on the outside and short plants inside. I was just thinking more penetration with a 1000w however I am working on a sog so top canopy is mainly what Im concerned with.

I guess I wont go with the hydrohut. "non-toxic" sunhut it is. I kinda was looking for the maximum light intensity with a small space. I guess thats not the way to go.....

the sun equals about a fuckload of 1k bulbs no such thing as too much light as long as you vent the heat and bring in a constant flow of fresh air youll do fine my friend just tie your girls down so they dont get 2 close just see how much limens the sun gives off vs a 1000w i had one in a 2x2x8 8' being the height and it worked,just go right into 12/12 good luck brother

shit are you serious? Im kinda set at this point as far as buying the non-toxic version of sunhut just beause thats all the hydrostore has. They'll sell me one for$216 and some change.

Of course I dont want to buy it and would much rather go with the 3x3x6 and start a perpetual under 1000HPS. And I wouldnt be getting made in china bs either, but I can acctually save a few dollars buying sunhut over hydrohut but that doesnt really matter. I read that having more space somehow makes your 1000 watt more efficient than being in a smaller space. Like the density and size of the flowers grown in a small space doesnt equal out to be greater than more plants grown in larger space and not being as big. Does that sound right?

I don't see how that chart is relevant to the question. The chart does not provide anything about square footage only inches from the plant.

yeah too much light can be bad. however if properly ventilated and I mean properly. you just might be able to pull it off. I'd go with a 400w hps as well

I wonder if he ever tried it?

I thought the same thing until I did it. I used a 400w in a cool tube emitting zero heat but 35k lumnes within 5 inches from a plant and it caused problems.

I agree the sun is a fuckload of 1000w bulbs but it is a little further away.

Well not necessarily, you can get more production out of a plant by SCROG then if it grew vertical. In my small cabinet for example. Its a scrog. I got like 30" by 15 " and I pull out 4 or 5 oz every two months. (dried and cured)

I take clones from the plants, move them up and flower for 8 weeks. In the mean time I grow the clones up for the next cycle.
Simple. No mother needed.

If you got straight 12/12 they will grow. Just not as large, = SOG Thats your sea of green. several small vertical plants.

But its the vegging time is what gives you the size that equates to larger buds man.

So a pound of colas out of 10 plants is the same as a pound of colas out of 20 plants. Its just getting two pounds of colas out of the 10 plants is the trick. That's training, or super cropping. Look into SCROG (screen of green) This keeps all the colas the same height. much more efficient growing style.

I realize you grow is larger then mine but you could check out my cabinet grow for some ideas.
