Is 3k too much for a 9' x 11' room?

No, that is not too much. It will be too much HEAT tho if you do not vent your hoods properly and run it through ducting out of your grow room. This will require a little extra $, work, and maybe cutting some holes in the wall or throwing plywood up over the window in your room (if you have one) and cutting a hole in that to run the air out thru your boarded up/lightproof window.

Remember, any light emits lumens

The quantity of lumens these lights emit are dependent on how many watts the light uses (ie, 600 watt emits around 80k lumens, a 1000 can emit 140,000+, ...)

Higher lumens = Higher yield, Higher potency (Up to your strains genetic potential, of course)

The ultimate goal is to achieve 1 gram of bud per watt. Strains that put out can achieve this. Some will come close. Some are simply stash strains that will never come close. Regardless, you're trying to create an artificial source = to the sun. I can guarantee you, you will never buy a indoor light that will give you the equivelent of the sun.

With that in mind, go for it! Three 1,000 lights should be cheaper, less space taken up, and less work & ducting required to cool. Make sure you get hoods that can be cooled, and come with the tempered glass to close off the lamp and help keep heat from hitting your girls. This will allow you to run the lights around 1 foot away from them instead of the recommended 2 feet for those who don't have cooled hoods.

Hope this info helps!
