Is 1 gallon too small??

Hey guys I'm looking to get 1 gallon buckets for my next bubbleponic/dwc grow I have a 4 site 5 gallon tote that i fill with 3 gallons of water on average. I had 4 bag seeds in it and one ended up female and she has like 3 weeks left of flowering, she is doing great lookin really tasty in the home made setup I have her in. The bag seeds were a test run for the new setup. I have some pk seeds going in there next and I really want to use buckets this time because the tote made it hard to flush, move around, couldn't spin her around to get even light to other bud sites its just a hassle in the stupid tote. My question is can I do a full grow from seed to harvest in a one gallon buckets 1 plant in each bucket, or should I do 2 gallons. I'm trying to stay small because I don't want to use so much nutrients every feeding this time around. I've notice in the grow I got going on now at the end of flowering she drinks alot of water a day she is a tall plant if I hadn't tided her down she would be 5 feet tall in a 4 foot grow box maybe thats part of why she drinks so much I dunno. I just want this pk grow to go smoothly as possible but not sure if 1 gallon buckets are too small for a full grow. I feel it'll be hard to keep up with topin water levels off every day in flowering stage I dunno. Let me know what you guys think and if any of u guys ever used one gallon buckets before... thanks

WAY too small. you'll have to top them off a few times a day when they get bigger. and your pH will be hard to control with such a small amount of water in it.

bigger roots=bigger fruits.

That's what I figured..... I'm trying to stay short with the buckets to give me more top to bucket space in the box I really don't wanna go five gallons and I don't wanna hook up a reserve tank to the buckets even though that might be the best way to go. The pk is a smaller strain then this one I have in there now it must be a sativa mix or something

If you only veg to around 12'' it will be fine

Yeah I usually go about 6 to 7 nodes Or first sign of pre flowers witch ever one comes first. Maybe i'll go with 2 gallons pre plant.

I have flowered 6 foot tall plants in 3g pots, not rootbound.


Edit for, they started at 3 or 4 feet at flower

I never knew they could get root bound in water

You could run a rectangle tote that is short to the ground yet holds like 3-4 gallons. Thats what I veg in. Only like 6" high but 2-3 foot long.

I end up getting 2 gallon buckets. I was able to control 3 gallons with 4 plants pretty well, shouldn't be too difficult.?. We'll see

Care to share a bit more about how your DWC veg process? You seem to imply that you switch to a different tub or room, which is what I'm currently wrestling with.

Do you have any issues with roots tangling and being difficult to transfer to their flowering location? Much appreciated.

What I do is use two totes with identical lids. So I litterally just lift the lid and place it onto a bigger tote/res(the net pots stay right where they are in the lid).
. At 1 month of veg my roots stayed seperated naturally(given they had enough room to not tangle). But after a month they did start to tangle once space became more limited since they got larger. I stick to Fem seeds so tangling isn't a worry although last grow I had a reg seed and it turned out male, roots were tangled a lil but i ripped her outta there with minimal damage to the remaining plants roots. Check my journal in my sig for pics, more towards the end cuz my last grow is when i started that setup.

I'm running a 1.5 gallon tote in a cabinet, obviously keeping it small for plot size overall but you can do it
