indeterminate growth?

everybody wants to know about keeping their plants from flowering when they put them out in the spring. it makes me wonder if you could go the other direction - that is if you lived somewhere tropical (somewhere without killing frosts) could you keep a plant from going into flower with supplemental lighting? how big could it get? will it eventually flower on its own? I know that it would probably vary from strain to strain - I do know that people keep mother plants (even if they should't) in excess of 10 years. sometimes these old moms flower even under under 18/6 - probably the plants way of saying, "enough already!".

I realize its kind of a silly question - I'm kind of a silly person
