My friend gave me an already sprouted plant to grow a couple months ago and now im on my first day flowering. Im confused tho cuz when i asked him what strain it was he said purple.... i was like what, purple kush?,haze? and he said the strain is just called purple. the seeds were just called purple? has anyone ever heard of this? do you think this is like some generic shiv or something?

and also is it good to leave plants in dark for 48 hours brfore starting the flowering cycle? and how many days might it be until i can tell it gender?
