Im cheap....how do u test ph in soil without a digital tester

i would like to know how to test the PH of my soil plant but i don't have a digital PH tester just the drop shake and match colors. I know its primitive but that's all i can afford for right now. well its more that i am cheap than anything.kiss-ass

I was in Harbor Freight a while ago and saw a meter with two long probes that go into the soil. It displayed pH, soil moisture, and light level. $7. You may just get what you pay for. I don't know though, I had a more expensive temp/humidity gauge from a grow shop that was so far off on the humidity that it was worthless. Picked up a super cheap one at Harbor Freight, and it works very well. (Maybe I got lucky).

I got a very cheap probe-type tester (similar to what the previous poster mentioned). I think I paid about $4 at Lowes. It's not very accurate, but it does work. Use the type you have to test the water/ferts before you add them and also test your runoff. The runoff test will tell you where your soil is. Lol I'm cheap too.

the colored drops are way more accurate than the home depot probe testers. just test the runoff.

Umm...Litmus Paper, go e-bay that it cost me 99 pence for 3 packs of the stuff, i dno what that is in USD but i know its the cheapest and its gotta be accurate because its used in science experiments.

Use the drops or the test strips if you are that cheep. They ARE more accurate than the HD probe testers.

Those probe testers are worse than useless because they are so inaccurate.
