If I start my grow with Fox farm ocean forest soil do I still have to add nutrients during vegetative growth and especially during the 12/12 flowering stage? Does Ocean forest have everything in it for both stages? About to start seeds in one week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank folks! :leaf:

If you are still in veg at this time then give them veg nutes...if you switch to flower within a month then give them bloom nutes...it is easy to fix a deficiency by feeding..it is much harder to get the plant back right if you overfeed....So I say wait as long as possible...until the leaves start to lighten out a bit...and you might notice the tips of your new seedlings will get a little burnt...I have found that FFOF slightly burns any seedling I put in it, but the plant is none the worse for wear, just water after the soil is dry and the pot is light, Overwatering with prenuted soil is the same thing as overfeeding...so anything looks burnt water less....no nutes for the first month...add perlite and there ya go...simple.

Thanks for all the advice. Ocean Forest soil is a lot cheaper on eBay then at the stores. Is it the same thing as the store sell's?

fox farm soil is sold everywhere. e-bay will hit you with shipping which with the weight involved will simply be more than the soils original cost. shop around or talk with the guys at your local hydroponics shop or garden center and ask for a good alternative to fox farm soils. here in michigan we have several locally mixed options that are way better than the gnat infested fox farm soils.

You will need nutrients. I suggest going organic and next run making your own teas and using a cooked soil recipe.
I amend Fox Farms with earth worm castings, perelite, bat guanos, organic fert (tomato tone, Fox Farms all purpose...), powdered rock...

Go here and read:

There are a bunch of really smart and friendly people there that have taught me a shit ton about organics.
You should have seen my veggy garden, it went nuts because it got all the left over teas I made for my indoor plants.

Your soil mix should be cooking right now.
If you amend your soil with the super soil recipe, you will not need nutes at all, you can just use tap water.

I switched to organics and it is great. I make my own fertilizers (tea) for much cheaper than the bottled nutes.
It is actually easier than using synthetic nutes and the end product is amazing.

Plus, you get to say things like, "My nugs are organic, brah," and look down your nose at people. It is fun.

I used miracle grow seedling starter or something like that in a solo cup. It grew without any problems and then I transplanted into a 1 gal with ffof on day 17 of veg. Plant still is healthy and growing. I'm starting off by giving it half a tbls of Tiger bloom and grow big. In a week or 2. I'll keep adding more nutes the longer i go. I'm going to transplant into a 3 gal in about 2 weeks

fox farms ocean is good stuff for premade soil, ive used it and like it ,just like my soil build better, the answer to your question is what do your plants want are they asking for it or do you want to give it to them,if you want to give it to them start at 1/4 strength work your way up till you slightly burn tips of leaves and then back off a little, just saying ,dont feed them if they dont need it that will lead to problems across the board. when i did use ocean i didnt feed mine until a week before flip, and i veg 6 to 8 weeks depends on strain strength

if you dont want to continue buying soil buy a soil cutter starter from kelp4less ,then you can use teas and water,i use coconut, aleo vera and cactus water at 2 tbsp per gallon,my tea is the compost blend ,potent shit so i go 1/4 strength, stuff is full of benifits ewc, kelp ,feather meal and the main thing it has humic ,fulvic acid in it to clean and help root growth and supply benifits to the plant it is for ph balancing the soil, anyway thats what i use every other feeding is tea then the fruity water, check kelp4less out if you buy anything use discount code oldskol4evr for 10% off

I use ffof and light warrior 3:1. I use Advanced Sensi Bloom and supplements. I do not start nutrients until 28 days when I switch to flowering. Have has much success this way.
This time , however, I will be using RO water. I know Sensi cal mag extra is not needed with AN Base nutrients. My question is during the first grow phase 28 days, should I use the Sensi cal mag added to the RO water? Or just plain RO water? Or does the ffof have it covered on its own? Thanks all!
