If I'm 12/12 from seed...how do I promote flowering?

I'm growing a single plant from soil, it's about 8 weeks old, three feet high, has shown several bud sites, but no actual buddage.

I've used minimal nutes, just a half-cap 'o Big Bloom in two of the last 4 waterings.

It's under a 400 hps, prolly a little too warm in the room, but I am mechanically declined and haven't been able to construct one of those fancy cool tubes that everyone understands but me.

I've been searching the 12/12 from seed forum and I've come to the conclusion that everyone here is much smarter than I. I'm a research Librarian with years of research training and still couldn't decipher all the hundreds of opinions poured into that thread.

So, basically, how do I induce flowering, on a 12/12 cycle? Will it just happen on it's own? Should I start a nutrient regiment? Should I just cut down the hours? 24 hours in darkness?

Many thanks@!

You are on 12/12 now? When did you start 12/12? It's not like you go to 12/12 and see flowering the next day. They go through a transition phase of a week or so.

12/12 refers to 12 hours of darkness and 12 hours of light per 24 hours. If marijuana is grown in the 12/12 cycle from seed, it's going to take longer than if flowering from a clone. You are promoting flowering, it just takes a bit longer than making the switch from vegging. If you've been on 12/12 for 8 weeks, then within the next week or two you should see some serious expansion in bud. Also, the nutrient regiment is different for the flowering cycle, depending on your nutrient brand there are flowering counterparts.
