If any smart stonner is bored i need your help!

Just a quick and hopefully easy question. If my room is 5ft wide x 3 1/2 long x 8ft heigh. what HPS lamp do i use for filling up the closet? (Watts and if you can send links of what you would recommend for that size and those amount of plants. Also how far would the light be from the pots when they are vegging and so on. Like I said if your bored and willing to help, I would really appreciate it thanks.Oh also do you use the same bulb for vegging and flowering if not what bulb? My user name fits me well i assume. During vegging you want 6700Kelvin (Kelvins describe the color spectrum of a light) or Daylight lights. You can use CFL's (energy saving light bulbs) or even better a mh light. Some argue that you can use the HPS all the way through and there's certainly some truth to that but if you want to do it "right" use daylight lights for vegging. During the flowering stage you want 2700Kelvin lights. This is a reddish light that is produced by HPS lights. You can also get this coloured light in CFL's but the HPS would be optimum for the space you're using. Figure out the cubic square feet of the space you're using. There should be a minimum of 3000 Lumen fer square foot. Lumen is a measurement of the amount of light that is put out.
CFL's vary based on wattage but are pretty low on lumens in contrast to MH and HPS systems that put out crazy amount's of lumen. You may only need a 400-600watt for the space you're using but another thing to keep in mind is that these lighting systems put out much more heat than CFL's so you may need a ventilation system of some kind.

Thanks for the info. I currently have 4 6500k 4ft shop lights for 5 plants and they are 8in away. 1 seed is a sour Kush and one popcorn and the other 3 are killlller bag seed. I have 2 other sour k seeds germinating. also. on the sour k i have it in a jiffy cup with a 26watt 6500k cfl with a reflector dome thingy and its 4in away. THey are like 10 days old but they have through some shit! lol they fell, too much nutrients, ph was off and other nooblet things. Im pretty much setting up little by little and growing seeds as i go just to see the way it is until i order some seeds! woot woot
