Idea's for electric service? help me for ++++

hello riu,. i wanna run a new sub panel upstairs. i need like maybe 60 amps or so. how do i do this i mean do i just put a 60 amp breaker in my main box and run like a number 6 wire to an additional subpanel up stairs and the 3x 20 amp breaker and 14/2 wire from those 20 amp breakers and then to the socket wall.

Only thing I would suggest is that you use 12/2 when using the 20 amp breakers. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound cured...

yep that's the way. and follow slab25's advice on the 12 gauge wire. Tell us about your setup. Don't get the horse before the cart.

Yeah that's about how it works... but, if I remember correctly, 6 gauge wire goes with a 50 amp breaker and (as mentioned above) 12 gauge goes with 20 amp (14 gauge goes with 15 amp). Are you doing any 220? If so, you'll need 6-4 wire (6 gauge, with 4 wires [red, black, white, ground]). And, to be safe, add up the amps that you're going to use if you're going to be using a large amount, then check out the main wire going into your main breaker box and make sure it will handle everything you're running on top of everything else that might be running at the same time in your house (just in case you're in an old house with inadequate wiring). I've done a fair amount of wiring, so if you have any specific questions I'll help if I can.
