i49 seedbank and the "guarantee"

Hello all. So I ordered seeds from i49 about 3 months ago. They have an guarantee that if over 20% of your beans don't pop they will replace them. Except there is a major caveat. The problems have to be reported in the 1st 30 days....

Well to stay legal I can only run 6 plants at a shot. Fast forward to yesterday I had my 4th non germinating seed from them. Thats 4 out of 18. I contacted them about it expecting to provide the seeds and get new ones.

The answer from them was it needs to happen in the 1st 30 days....

This bullshit "guarantee" is designed to never work if you do the legal thing. Cant pop 18 seeds in 30 days. I let them know the legalities in my state and how it impossible to figure out if seeds are no good in the allotted time frame. They didnt care.

Were talking about $40 worth of seeds for customer satisfaction.

Anyway be ready for some bs if you need to deal with them beyond just making a purchase.

20% of 18 is 3.6 bad seeds allowed. Round up. 4 bad seeds allowed. Do you want them to send you 0.4 seed?
If its over 20% they will replace what didnt work. So all 4 seeds should have been resent. Its really not about the seeds. Its about companies making policies that obviously give a false sense of comfort with a purchase.

I wanted a company to do the right thing bud. Thats all.

Also this is more of a warning for those who don't know than anything else. I dont like being screwed and if I can stop others from having bullshit experiences I will try.
I see your point, but I also dont really think its their fault that you have to wait specific time lines in order to stay legal, I mean ..if their guarantee is only for 30 days its only for 30 days.

I think their FAQ page was quite clear on what they say about what your purchased

I think its also up to buyers to look at websites they purchase from

heres from their FAQ

"
First, we only give our germination guarantee to customers who treat our staff with respect. If you feel the need to write horrible emails or call and yell at us, you are not eligible. No Seeds for you!

If you follow the steps to germinate seeds in the paper towel or cup method, and they don’t germinate, we will send replacement cannabis seeds to make up the difference of an 80% germination rate. You must germinate all your seeds before we can help you.

I own a successful company. I would never write a policy that ensures most people won't be able to take advantage of a guarantee. Its shady business.

I was very professional in the communications to them.

I just won't be buying from them again is all. I hope this thread helps others. Thats the point

I will try an order from i49 regardless of your inability to sprout their seeds. They are expensive for generic seed bank seeds tho. If you want to grow a strain like Super Lemon Haze and want fems, where else are you gonna get it? Another generic seed bank maybe. i49 always has SLH in stock. I like how they accept Zelle. Fuck money orders.

Playing devils advocate here but I'm seeing this type of post pop up more and more since places have started legalizing.

Lots of folks want to grow which is cool but then go to illegal Black Market sites to buy their gear and then go complain about it. Why aren't you purchasing beans from Legal distributors in your state or area which will have these guarantees and more that you seek

I live in a legal area and have a medical license and grow up to 50 plants at any time. Legal rec allows 4. Go to the legal rec places and seeds are sold in 4 packs and 8 packs and are usually fems. However they're selection is usually crap.

I pop whole packs as do most others who buy from these companies. So these guarantees work for most of us. You can't blame the site for operating how it already did because you decided to buy from an illegal site and trying to operate legally and get mad when the two don't go hand in hand.

Like every other company that operate I expect them to follow their policy and if you don't do so then that violates it. Same with Best Buy, Costco, and many other legal retailers.

This is more a warning for customers to read FAQs properly and not write temper tantrum posts when they don't get what they want and blame the others bad attitude when its clear as day who the problem was here.

What do you mean by illegal site?

I'm not throwing a temper tantrum. I'm merely stating the policy is bullshit. Designed to not work.

Also costco, best buy and many other retailers have reasonable policies that actually protect the consumer.

I49 is not a legal site by any means. If it is in the same state as you and only serves people in that state and pays taxes and is registered that they produce Cannabis or Cannabis seeds/clones for sale than it is a legal site. All the legal options in my area take every CC, debit, etc and work through actual Mastercard and Visa.

Sites that ship anywhere are not legal options, they break federal rules by crossing state lines and most are not registered and pay taxes under a cannabis producing company. These sites would not be considered legal.

I had no idea of the ins and outs of the legalities of them. I was only looking at my own legalities.

Thank you for that knowledge. I can now move forward looking for reputable sellers.

I do not want any part of anything illegal. Thats always a concern for me.

It doesn't have to cross state lines. US 280E is US 280E.. Your state provides "legal" banking maybe but 100% you are not supposed to be using credit cards or an FDIC bank to move any cannabis money around.

So technically, those sites you think are legal, are also illegal. The only reason I butt in here, is because you said that one is Federally legal and the other isn't. They are both Federally illegal.

I am in Canada, where it is Federally legal so we allow banking to be done with Cannabis. The States are in the right direction but it needs to not be illegal Federally if they are going to allow each state to determine their own status to stop making it so complicated. The legal stores here only have a few selections to buy so lots of people go online and find Black Market seed sites and then get mad at these issues and start writing negative reviews because they didn't quite understand how it all worked. So many people here are getting into home growing and its helpful to explain some of these things to them so they don't think its a BS guarantee or something like that and they can learn to navigate Between legal places for them to use or how the BM works. Try suggesting to a new grower to send Cash in an envelope or a blank money order to a stranger in hopes you get what you paid for.

When I spoke of legality im referring to the legal states and where they allow you to purchase it. I know of some Merchants that have sites setup in Cali and Colorado that will only work in state. This is the legal sites I was referring to. You are correct as not to confuse it with being Federally legal.

Main point I was trying to get at is folks need to understand their sources. If your going online for purchases and then blaming the site because of your legal restrictions, then its not their fault.

Our legal industry here is failing miserably because no one wanted to listen to those who had experience, they all thought they could get into the biz with lots of cash and basically print money. Well just look at our countries top LP's and you can see how poorly the industry is. Home growing is booming though.

oh yeah. I trade a little bit. I was passing Aurora, Kron, Namaste and the like around. I got the hell out of dodge when Tilray hit 420% in 24 hours and plummeted. Ridiculous valuations on those companies. Aurora did make some noise with that >30% Ice strain or whatever but yeah, I think everybody on RIU is in agreement that grow your own is the way to go.

edit: it was called "Frost" not Ice, sorry

Pop all at one time and pick the 6 that look to be the best. Toss the rest or give them away..
Document everything you do to them the moment you open that pack
If 20% or more fail to germ.. give them hassle. Show them the pics.
Repeat

When you buy seeds online and they ship anywhere and take all forms of money.. they’re definitely not 100% legal
When it comes down to it.. there’s nothing you can do even if they take your money and don’t even send the seeds.

A lot of these places get seeds in bulk, slap a name on it and cash in.

Until marijuana is legal federally.. nobody is getting a Costco type policy /warranty or any type of guarantee
