I wanna grow a tasty midget

Whats up and happy smoking everyone, I'm new and I'm baked from vaping for the last hour and Im starting a grow journal for my

Stealth Easy Ryder (AK47 Autoflowering Dwarf) Hydro Grow!!!

Anyway.... here we go. My objective is to build a stealth grow for Easy Ryders, plants that arent supposed to grow taller than 24" so there should be plenty of room in the box I found.

Heres how far I am with the box design. I was walking around WalMart and I saw this plastic cabinet for $40. Its a good size, but it comes with a problem: Its not at all airtight.

Hang on.

ok.....

In building the box, I decided to use duct tape to seal it all up. It was a bitch to do, but its working nicely. Since I need to stay as stealth as possible, Ill be using a single exhaust fan with a carbon filter which should draw air through strategically placed "weak" points in the way I seal up the box.

The light rail happened to fit almost perfectly in the top of the box, and two 24" (max) Easy Ryders growing in a single res with a bubbler at the bottom should work nicely. Im using advanced nutes and probably bottled water.

Since Easy Ryders are autoflowering, they automatically go from veg to flower in a short time, so I wont need much running in the box (the timer, the lights, the bubbler holy shit im fucking ripped.

Whatever, Im going to post pictures and update everyone n shit. If you have any questions, please ask! Ill be asking for as much advice as I can, so thanks in advance and please offer any crits or comments!

set ups ok i guess. you should make some kind of hole for passive intake. and its not air tight we wory about its light leaks later down the road

your seeds will fix them selves, by tomorrow i bet. are you growin bagseeds or what strain

for a first grow i think soil would treat you better but... its your grow

I got the box at walmart, the rest of the stuff I got at a local hydro supplier. The light should be good for early stages of growth but Ill be adding a better light down the road.

The strain is Easy Ryder. Its an autoflowering strain that grows very short, so it should be easy to grow and contain. I dont think Ill be adding any more intake than what will be allowed through the cracks in the doors. This should create a vaccum pulling air in the small gaps and out the fan and carbon filter.

Im not worried about masking light, I'll take care of that outside the box. Just the smell.

*?*?* I have the seeds germing in short blocks of damp rockwool in a tuppaware container with about an inch clearence over the rockwool. The whole thing is being kept in a dark drawer at about 75*F. Should i move the rockwool/sprouts to a larger container? When should I start thinking about light?

Anyway, Ill post a picture of what the seeds look like tomorrowish, and go from there. Thanks for checking out my grow everyone!

putting them under the light would probably encourage the babies to stand up right
Maybe, so I put em under the light and moved them to the box. If you think the light is too soon or too close or whatever, let me know. Im also not really sure when I should think about adding water and nutes. At the moment, Ill just be keeping the rockwool damp myself until I figure out what balance of water and nutes to put in the res.

your lights fine, and i wouldnt wory about nutes for 2 weeks or so (i dont do hydro so dont quote me here). maybe hydro needs em sooner, but id hold off a few weeks or untill you saw it needed them

Ide add 1/4 nutes after the first week and just bump up to 1/2 the next week and 3/4 the next and full strength the next

Ok awesome thanks for the interest. Attached is a picture of the nutes I have. Anybody use these before?

Also, Im still just giving the plants water by adding it from the top directly into the rockwool. I do this every 5 or 6 hours. Would it be a good idea to go ahead and fill the res with water? Just so the hydroton will start doing what its there for...

General Hydro. 3 parts are good stuff. Just use their online guide as a base point and adjust as needed. You can save alot of money by looking online for the one gallon jugs.

Get some mylar and put it inside your cabinet. Less light out/in. More useable light for your plants.

Ok thanks. Ill probably be adding nutes in a week or so, Im not sure yet. Anyway, I finished the exhaust fan and carbon filter. Ive also filed the res with 2L of bottled water, so a little over a gallon. The bubbler is running also.

At this point, I think all I need to worry about still as far as the box is concerned is lining the inside with something to mask the light. As of now, I dont have any timers set up, just everything running all the time. Later, I might decide to go 20/4, but for now Ill just stay on 24/0 unless I see a reason to change with these autos.

time to get high and eat..... Oh yeah, whomever suggested we drink a Naked mango drink alongside smoking was a fucking GENIUS.

I felt like the plants were too high in the hydroton, so I took out about an inch worth of depth. Now the plants are sittling a little lower with better access to the water. Hopefully this will help things out a little because I havent seen a change in a couple of days.
