I tied my leggy seedling in a knot

I read about this last year but now I can’t find anything about it. Has anyone ever tried this? I did it to a leggy seedling that fell over and I thought was damping off. Now it’s clearly permanent and she’s doing great. I’m kinda excited to grow a “crazy straw” plant. 076E53B0-20E8-487D-8D96-05AD17831BE7.jpeg
 
I’ve done it on a branch before.... it was fine! It did what I wanted it to and shortened it and had no issues. Idk, it will be real cool to see what happens from seed! I like experiments like these! Watch it turn into a bud tree!
 
That's hilarious! Would be amazing if you could do time-lapse of the growth.

Props. Old Bonsaii method. All good. I'd make a mom and train. Only suggestion is to compress the rings a bit with your fingers as they get close to each other. Will allow air and develop the bark to keep from grafting.
 
I’ve recently been told about a experiment a friend did, and I want to try this summer. He planted a large girl and bent her over sideways slowly till she was touching the ground and cut the tips and drenched it in clonex and planted it. He said it took root! I wanna see this for myself... so I’m gonna do it. Maybe have a weed arch haha.

Truth is any growth node will root or branch by location and conditions.

My thoughts exactly, I’m also worried if the stem is touching the medium too long it might take root. I might raise the light a bit and make her stretch again

I only failed my Bonsaii attempts due to my poor choice of plants. Did a few in my 30's. 50F day in the garage killed this after too much work.
It is called hardening. Contact to air. Or drying out creates a sheath. But it will root if wet or in contact with medium. Keep dry and apart. Straws work well to train coils. 002.jpg
