I Think My Tarantula Is Dying.

My Chilean Rose is staying in his cave and wont come out. His name is Hairyzona and I have had him for over 18 years. Anyone have any experiance?

With what I've just read you're lucky you've had him as long as you have. Their lifespan is about 15 years.

Damn, i never imagined a spider could live that long. how big is it? Enough for a main course?

When I turned 18 I stayed in my cave for like two weeks. Give him time.

If he is 18 he is likely dead in his cave or very close to it...I had a mexican red leg for about 8 years.

Man, that sucks. 18 yrs is a long time though, im sure it's lived a good life. I hope it lives but its probably getting close to its time. I'll smoke a joint in its honor.

well since you've had him that long bob, i'm sure you'd already know about this, but thought i'd throw it out there anyhoo's... is he / she by any chance just molting (sP?)?? i know a guy i worked with had one, and he said that when his was ready to molt, it would act like it was dying, not move much, etc, then it would molt and be ok??
i sure hope that is it, i hate when pets get old.. i'm going through the same shit with my dog dumb donald..his name is bear, but he's big, like 70 pounds, and is 14 or 15 now, and blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, is having problems walking and shit, and isn't doing very well at all in general, so i surely feel your pain bro.. i'm sure his time here with us isn't very long, and it's so depressing to say the least.. i hope that spidey is ok bro, i really do.. losing a pet always blows..

Hairyzona has molted many times. This was different. I was a little worried

But I revived the thread to happily announce that Hairy shook it off and is still alive and well. I got hairyzona right after I quit drinking in 92. I am suprised she made it this long. Someone else mentioned it and I think 15 - 20 is about max for her life span.

Where is here? I don't ever want to be there ever.

Edit: Congrats, no one loves a pet like the owner, especially a spider.

Touching thread and I'm happy that the thing is still kicking, but man I hate spiders !!! They freak me out worse than any other insect or arachnids... whatever they are .

I am suprised I kept anything alive 18 years and I know she is getting up there in years but 25 would be really cool.

when i was a kid, me and my brother had a pet python, we went to school one day and my mom was cleaning the house, she set his "GLASS" tank outside with him in it, in the middle of the day in summer....that take turned into a oven and cooked him......that was a sad day,
