I need suggestions

Hi Guys!

This is my first set of plants, and I've really gotten into learning exactly how these plants work. I've done TONS of research, but most of what I've learned so far is from trial and error. I can only imagine the things I am doing wrong, so I'd love some advice from people who've done this in the past.

My plants were germinated from seeds on February 11th. I put them into a paper towel for about 1.5 days, then planted them in Fox Farm soil. I made sure that to start the soil was super moist, and at this point in time I had the plants around 70" from the light. Throughout this time I am using LA tap water, which sits in a large bucket in my grow room. My grow room is wood-framed with two ventilation holes in the bottom, a 8" fan to move the air out, and a window-box fan for further ventilation. For lighting, I'm currently using a 1000w Metal Halide bulb with the 8" fan moving through it. When they start flowering, I'm going to switch over to HPS. On 2/22 I decided to raise the plants about 39" (31" from the light). The temperature in the room is ranging from 80-95, but thats at the top of the room, and the plants have a fan blowing directly above them.

Initially I fed the plants nutrients, which I use a full series of Heavy 16. I decided to hold off on these until the plants were about 4" (when I said I would consider them in the vegetative stage). I feed them, then just give them straight water, then feed them, then straight water.

Today, the plants have reached between 3.5" and 5". I will be looking into ways to check gender very shortly here. I am just starting to spray them with heavysixteen nutrients. I do this right before the lights turn off, since I've burned them badly once.

I think I'm doing an okay job. Any suggestions so far?

Thanks.

Also I'm watering around every 2-3 days (and switching between straight water and nutrients). But I also put my Nutrients inside my spray bottle, using a foliar agent from Heavy 16. Should I be spraying every day or every couple days? Also should I be switching between straight water and nutrients for the spray bottle?

Wooooo cowboy you might want to slow down on the nutrients...Fox Farm is a hot soil, so from my understanding most people don't even add nutrients for a decent amount of time. But so far so good.
