the most complete guide for this. There is one problem only, he doesn't say how much water(for how long he leaves it on) he uses during those 3 times a day the pump is turned on.

Also how many watts do those fluorescent lights have.

I know there are a lot of people with experience here who might be able to tell me this information based on their experience.

I can't watch that video from work I will get in trouble, my boss is cool but not like that. lol 3 times a day sounds like a flood table, if my understanding is correct you fill it up to the top, let it drain. That is it all the roots get wet then spend a few hours draining.

buy some T5s very inexpensive more lumens than florescent. for basic flood and drain, just buy a timer from your local HW store. if you buy analog timers $8 then you have no choice but to flood them for 15 min... if you buy an electronic timer about $6 more than you can adjust for any time you want. 15 minutes is completely fine though and it will not kill your plant. as far as the volume of water... make sure you have a reservoir that will fill your flood tray enough.. you want the root ball to be submerged as much as you can for optimal root growth hope this helps.
