Ok I started from nothing like seriously not really knowing anything about growing. So i went out and got 2 250 watt heat lamps i know bad also 2 90 heat lamps i know this sounds terrible but the first plant i had growing was about a foot high and like the noob i am i put it to close burned it was male anyways so got rid of it. Anyways I know everyone says dont use heatlamps but i have to fans in their and it is keeping the temp at about 75 to 80 and the lights a good ways away from the plants. i CAN tell that they are growing but very slowly i think.

what's a heat lamp?? go with a hi pressure sodium or a metal halide 250 watt for flower maybe and get a couple compact flourescent bulbs for veg. get close as possible without touching. happy growin

compact flourescent bulbs are not only cheaper but much cooler and also 1000 times more effective than heat lamps.
heat lamps are the wrong spectrum for growing as well they put out more heat than light.
if you cant afford a high pressure sodium setup than go with flourescents either t5 tube fixture or compact flouros.
search the forums here to find the right spectrum but dump the heat lamps before you burn your house down
