I haven't added nutrients in a week but ppm continues to increase...

Its been about a week since i've added any nutrients, which level I kept at 1700 ppm. After the last 5 or 6 days I have been trying to decrease ppm so that I can add a bloom booster, but I've had continuously rising ppm and continually rising pH. I just got my pH/ ppm meter and have been trying to dial it in but can't seem to figure this all out. I've tried getting help on another site, but they are useless lol n e help here?

Plants uptake something like 80% water 20% nutrients, that combined with evaporation, is why your PPM's are going up, add water to lower.

1700 PPM is probably way too high. Just flush your system and with clearex or with just water for a few days then slowly add nutes. If your PPMs are going up that means the plant is locked up. You should loose water and you PPM idealy should stay the same meaning your plant is taking in the right amount of nutes and water. Or if you have to little of nutes your plant should take in the water plus your PPM's will go down. That means you can add alittle more nutes. For example my plants take in 2-3 liters a day and and my PPM drop maybe 20 or stay about the same.

Ok well thanks for the help guys. I actually figured out that my pH down is the cause for the increasing ppm. It comes in crystal form and when I add it ppm's go up right after so guess I'll be buying some new stuff soon. Thanks again for the help, good bit of knowledge I picked up.

use high quality aquarium buffer for freshwater tanks. it holds ph for long periods of time. also let your ph rise slowly from 5.6 to 6.3 and then back down. spend more time at the bottom end of the numbers i just gave. occasionally let it rise to cover the absorbtion of all nutes. diff chemicals need diff phs to be uptaken efficiently by the plant. good luck. Dont use any powder products i would also suggest.
