I'm thinking abut changin my 12/12 room from 6pm-6am TO 6am on and 6pm off...do I do that gradually???

Also, the new leaves that form are bigger and better than all the ones that grew before them but are stopping light from getting to smaller plants that didnt get quite the growth spurts as the bigger plants...can I cut off just those big leaves just to get them out of the way to allow light to get to smaller plants beneath the big ones?

What is the deal with the veg stage light cycles? I hear too many people say keep lights on and never turn off till flowering stage ( my local hydro store says so and many books I have read) and then I hear alot of people say to do the 18 hrs on and 6 off...please someone tell me which way to go>>>>> 24/7 or 18/6 for seeds, clones, anything in veg cycle???

1) no need to do it gradually you can flip straight to 12/12
2)Don't trim off any of the leaves, the plant needs them
3)either 24/0 or 18/6 is fie, I prefer 24/0 I figure the more light the faster they grow

i'd go with the 24hr dark then to a time u want..... veg cycles range because i've always heard that root growth occurs more at dark.. I also leave mine at 24/0....

Question #1)When the lights go OFF at 6AM, leave them OFF until 6AM the next day. That means they'll be off for 24 hours. Then just turn them back ON for their 12 hour light cycle at 6AM the next day. They'll be fine.
Question #2)A lot of ppl cut leaves off their plants to let the light reach the smaller bottom buds, I don't. I try to just push them under a branch or to the side to get them out of the way. I just feel like the plant grew them for a reason. Who am I to tell the plant it doesn't need them?
Question #3)A lot of people leave the lights on 24 hours, and a lot of ppl go with the 18/6 deal when vegging. Your plants will do well either way. I prefer the 18/6 cycle for two reasons. One, cuts down on the electric bill, and two, everything I've read about plants says that they collect and store the suns energy all day and do all their work at night. I feel the plant should have a dark cycle. Just my opinion. I mean really, what is the point of having the lights on for 24/7, to make the plant reach the height you want to flower at faster? I'm in no hurry, I can wait the extra week or whatever it ends up equating to. Good luck!

I agree with Antman... the leaves should stay ...

I read somewhere here about this dude using super small tie wraps to keep the fan leaves in line and under the stem, instead of their near 90 degrees off...

seems like a nifty and harmless way to let the light in... but I've never done it like that...

In my current grow, I have trained my plants so that the bottom stuff is actually above the colas and 100% exposed...

Cheers...

hi i wouldnt cut the leaves if you can help it.it is food for your plant plain and simple.try to get your cycle sorted and try not to fuk with it to much.and i start them out on 24/7 from clones for about 1-2 weeks and then down to 18/6 again for power consumption and also get the plant in a so called natural grow cycle where it can feed, rest or take a nap or whatever plants do at night.PEACE

I would think we should keep in mind that all the work you do to ur grow room is to "recreate nature" or the outdoors so I would think 18/6 would be safer choice. I think 24/0 stresses the plant. Also I believe it is true that during dark time, the plant operates differently and is needed for healthy growth.
