I don't know what's going on! seedlings, DYING?

I've been collecting seeds from bags of kush for about a year and i finally decided to start them.

Not really thinking much would become of it...
I put them in 3in terra cotta planters with Miracle Grow organic.

i HAVE A 400MH (HORTILUX blue) 20in above them...
But for the first couple of days I had the light at 12 in (way to close)

The plants are all suffering (ibelieve from having the light too close) the first two leaves curl under as you can see in the photos.

I'm thinking of transplanting them to 1gallon pots with a (FOXFARM PERLITE) mixture and hopefully the MG will wash out.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Someone more knowledgeable, please affirm or negate this: I think Picasso may be onto something. In the GrowFAQ they mention over-watering will cause the plant to loose its rigidity (Or maybe it was rigor?)

But you said the light was too close to them for a bit, I would thinkthe light being too close would've cause more of a burned effect rather than a drooping one, but like I said, I'm no expert.

First off, that MH was probably too much for them this early in the game. The light was probably way too hot for them. I would get some T5's or T8's and grow them under those for a week or two. If you can't find any of those type flouros, get you some cfl's from Wal-Mart or Home-Depot. I'd roll with some 26 watt cfl's @ 6500k.

If you are going to transfer, wait until they get a little older. Maybe wait a couple weeks, maybe three. If you do transfer now, put them in some 16 oz cups. Not the one gallon pots. This will allow them to establish a stable root system.

Fox Farms makes good soil. I use Ocean Forrest.

i might have taken that picture right after watering; but i do let the soil get dry before i water again. with such a small amount of soil and big light i've been soaking the soil about every 24 hours.

i think i'm gonna raise the light to 3 feet and flank them with two low watt flouros to keep them from strecthing...

but leave them in these terra cotta's another week to let them root a bit more before i transplant.

anyone seen the leaves do that curl under? were they shocked by the HID?

any transplant suggestions?

thanks a lot for all your help.

Yea, watering that much isn't good. It's probably way too much for them to handle. Look how small they.

Hey guys... thanks for all the help so far.

Here some more pics.

I moved them away from the light and they came back.

now the little one PIC#1 is doing that leaf curl again.

The soil looks wet in the pics cause i just watered it... and i let it get completely dry before i water again... i even check the soil through the drain hole with a Q-tip to make sure its not wet.

I've now moved the plants in a single file line off to the side of the light.

I've held of on transplanting them too...

any suggestions?

water every 3-4 days ONLY! use the hand test for your lights, place your hand at the top of your plants, move light till your hand feels warm, not hot. this is the right height. Of course, during their growing, you either have to move the lights or the plants to keep 'em at the proper height. NO NUTES or ferts for first 3 weeks. Get a fan on them asap to strengthen stems make sure you are using either 24/0 lighting or 18/6. temp should be between 70-80F at all times (lights on/lights off) humidity between 40-70%

EXACTLY right.
except definately 24/0, not 18/6.
you keep them on 24/0 for first 2 months of growth.

i have been monitoring the heat as well 80-85 too hot?
ideal marijuana growing temperature is: 68 - 78 degrees Farenheit.
In other words your a tad to warm.
maybe a fan or some fresh air might do the trick?
or a cooler light.

(68 - 78 degrees Farenheit = 20 - 25.5 degrees celcius)

congrats on checking the temp btw, most people just dont give a shit.

18/6 is perfect for vegging thank you very much. try reading the growfaq. Many growers here veg under 18/6 as did I.

LOL...dude it doesn't matter, but if you look around the forums, you will see that most people go with 18/6 - as do I!

Trust me, I would really love to know the truth.

if yu guys dont have problems with 18/6 or 24/0 then dont bitch about it haha... but those plants, im guessing, will come back up and be good if ya just watch the light and dont burn em and dont overwater.

im not saying you hafto do it.
im content knowing that im growing with 24/0 and you're not.
OK, well you said that 24/0 was better, so I want you to back that shit up. Don't talk a big game and claim things if you can't back it up. Lot's of people I'm sure are dying to know the truth to this.

PLEASE SHED THE LIGHT
